I am currently reading "Never Get Angry Again" by David Lieberman. He quotes Mark Twain, "Comedy is tragedy plus time." He goes on to say, "When we discover how to shift our perspective, we see today's events through the wiser, more balanced lens of tomorrow. Once we can recognize-in the moment-what really matters, we no longer need to force ourselves to remain calm. Our thoughts, feelings, and responses to any situation reshape themselves. Negative emotions like impatience, insecurity, and anger dissolve-not because we fight to control our emotions but, rather, because we see the situation for what it really is."
When we experience stress, we often emotionally eat. We seek comfort for the stress in forms that are easily accessible to us, like food... indulgent food! We are not eating for pleasure or hunger, rather, we are eating to try to fill a void.
What if were able to take Dr. Lieberman's advice and find perspective? What if instead of responding to stress, we were able to view the situation from a lens of time and never feel stressed to begin with?
Today's mission is to find perspective. Scroll through the contacts of your phone and find someone you have spoken to in a while, someone with a shared experience that brought you joy, that you now realize also brought you perspective, and call them! They will be happy to hear from you, and you will feel better to have called!
