When Donte arrived home after a difficult start at the NICU, his parents recognized right away that he needed physical therapy, and for their blended family of six children, every step forward mattered.

Their older daughter, Ciara, also needed support early in life. After seeing the difference it made for her, the family understood how valuable that help could be for Donte too.

When he was about eight weeks old, they reached out and requested Sam from PathWays’ Early Intervention program, the same therapist who had supported Ciara in her progress. Sam supported Donte in building strength and learning how to move his body in ways he couldn’t at the start. Slowly and steadily, his abilities began to change, and small moments grew into big milestones.

Now, a little over a year later, Donte is walking, climbing, and even jumping, accomplishments that once felt uncertain. His family has watched him surpass expectations, even those initially set by doctors, growing into a determined, active little boy who continues to surprise everyone around him.
