Rappahannock County: Outside Open Burning Prohibition in effect for Rappahannock County through 6:00 p.m. Monday, November 17, 2025. During this period outside fires are prohibited except for in approved containers. Report open fires to 9-1-1.

Annual kindergarten field trip to the station. Students tried on gear, put out "fires", sat in a fire engine, and listened to their hearts in an ambulance.

National First Responders Day

Sending a big thank you to Nextdoor for supporting our department through their Volunteer Fire Department Fund. Their $1500 award will go towards funding the replacement of our power cots in our ambulances. Programs like these make a huge difference in small communities like ours.

Blood Drive tomorrow at the Washington fire hall. Sponsored by the Rappahannock County Virginia Lions Club. June 4, 2025 from noon until 5:00 pm.

Washington Volunteer Fire and Rescue has been proudly serving the community since 1939. WVFR is proud to be one of the few remaining all volunteer fire and rescue companies in the area.

Shown below is another example of equipment we have purchased with funding from Give Local Piedmont. This lift system is great for getting patients to a seated position to allow for an easier transfer.
