Got some research in today at the range. Thanks to Phil from who was kind enough to let me run some rounds through his Benelli M4. The shotgun is still a very relevant option for defensive purposes. It’s a platform that requires the operator to think and be aware of the condition of the firearm and keep it filled up. NO I don’t think a shotgun replaces an AR and NO I don’t think a rifle is a replacement for a shotgun. They both do a particular job, when used in their respective jobs, both platforms are relevant.

What’s your preference on an EDC gun, light or no light? I am a huge fan of keeping a light and often an optic on my carry guns. In order to press the trigger on a threat should you ever have to defend your life or that of others you will need to have positively identified the threat before you fired any shots. There are lots of good options out there. Tell me what you think in the comments! Keep in mind, this is NOT the same light I use for tasks or scanning/searching. We DO NOT point guns at things we do not want extra holes in.

Good morning folks! I hope today is a good day for you. Wanted to share this pic as a reminder to be prepared as the Boy Scouts motto once taught me. Some things that are necessary daily items for me are shown here. A light to cast out the darkness, keys of course, a for cutting seat belts and breaking windows to aid in escape from bad situations and a couple of knives because you never know when you may need one. The one bearing a reminder to avoid conflict until you no longer have a choice. When the time comes to defend yourself, remember to win your battle!!!
