STAY ON TRACK SATURDAY:

Crush your weekend goals with our irresistible Crispy Chickpea Grain Bowl with Lemon Vinaigrette. Success is yours—let’s make it happen

Healthy Tip of the Week:

The new Dietary Guidelines for Americans continue to emphasize importance of consuming natural sources of dietary fiber for gut health from fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Maintain your gut health by including a variety of produce and whole grains in your diet. Check out the recipe below which uses high protein quinoa as the grain and nourishes your gut with eight different types of plants!

Different colors provide unique nutrients:

Red (Tomatoes, watermelon): Contain lycopene for heart health.
Green (Spinach, kale): High in vitamins K, folate, and fiber.
Orange/Yellow (Carrots, citrus): Rich in beta-carotene and vitamin C for immunity.
Blue/Purple (Berries, grapes): Packed with antioxidants for memory and aging.
White (Mushrooms, onions): Support heart health.

Also, making your own salad dressing offers significant health benefits, primarily through complete control over ingredients, allowing you to avoid unhealthy additives common in many store-bought options and pack in fresh, nutrient-rich components. Get creative!

Meet the Dietitian at the coffee break area!

🚨 Supplements: Friend or Foe? Let’s talk about it! 💊

As a Dietitian, the #1 question Susan gets is: "Which supplements should I be taking?"
The truth? Many over-the-counter products are poorly regulated, may contain hidden ingredients, and often make promises they can't back up. "Natural" does not always mean safe! ⚠️
💡 Want to know which, if any, supplements you actually need? Stop by and chat with Susan, Registered Dietician - she will be here to answer your questions. 🚀

STAY ON TRACK SATURDAY:

Crush your weekend goals with our irresistible Easy Baked Fish with Garlic and Basil!

Healthy Tip of the Week:

The new food pyramid places foods higher in saturated fats (e.g., red meat, cheese, whole milk) at the top, suggesting a more inclusive approach toward these foods. However, frequent amounts of red meat, butter, cheese, and whole dairy could easily exceed the recommended daily saturated fat limits. Therefore, it remains important to focus on portion control for saturated fat sources and plan to include several healthy sources of fat from nuts, seeds, olive oil, and fish in the diet. Cooking fish at home is a healthy and quick week-night meal option, often only taking about 15 minutes to cook!

The recommended daily amount of saturated fat consumption should be limited to 10% or less of daily caloric intake. For a standard 2000-calorie diet, that amount of saturated fat should be limited to ~22 grams. For those that need to make conscious choices for heart health, the American Heart Association recommends limiting saturated fat consumption to 5-6% of total calories, so about 13 grams per a 2000-calorie diet. 1 ounce of cheddar cheese (about a thumb-sized piece) contains about 6 grams of saturated fat.

STAY ON TRACK SATURDAY:

Stay focused and fuel your weekend success with our delicious Italian Ground Turkey Skillet!

Healthy Tip of the Week:

The new Dietary Guidelines for Americans were recently released and have a greater emphasis on protein consumption. The guidelines have raised the recommended protein intake from the previous standard of 0.8 grams per kilogram of body weight to a new range of 1.2 to 1.6 grams per kilogram. This adjustment reflects the needs of more active adults rather than just the minimum for survival. The new protein recommendations for a 150-pound individual would range from 82-109 grams per day. The Italian Ground Turkey Skillet recipe is loaded with both plant-based and lean animal-based protein providing 41 grams of protein per serving.
