https://linktr.ee/SerenityFarmsInc is a Washington County–based nonprofit organization dedicated to serving seniors, veterans, individuals experiencing homelessness, and those in addiction recovery. Our mission is to close gaps, restore dignity, and help people rebuild their lives—creating a stronger, more resilient community across Washington County and beyond. Located in The Landmark Building in historic Downtown Washington, PA, Serenity Farms is transforming its space into a unified community hub where hope begins again. Founded on the values of service, compassion, and integrity, Serenity Farms continues a legacy of giving back inspired by Andrew G. Today, we carry forward that belief that “it’s better to give than to receive” through programs that promote mental wellness, housing stability, vocational training, and inclusive economic growth. At Serenity Farms, we are more than a nonprofit—we are a community partner, rebuilding lives and restoring hope one person, one family, and one project at a time. Our Commitment | Serenity Farms, Inc. is committed to fostering an inclusive and thriving community. We proudly collaborate with Washington County participants and businesses of diverse ownership, creating opportunities for success and growth. By partnering with minority-owned, women-owned, veteran-owned, and other diverse businesses, we make it easier for our community to discover and support these exceptional organizations. Our approach is built on a multi-collaborative model, prioritizing Washington County-based events and businesses. This ensures we meet the needs of individuals in recovery, seniors, veterans, the unhoused, and other vulnerable populations. It takes a village—and that’s what we cultivate. Diversity strengthens our local economy and enriches the experiences we offer, helping us grow recovery here and now in Washington County, PA.

Serenity Farms was honored to participate in the 2026 Washington County Real Estate Expo, hosted by the Washington County Commissioners. With more than 1,500 attendees and over 100 vendors, the Expo continues to bring together realtors, lenders, contractors, developers, and community leaders working to strengthen the future of housing and development in

We were grateful for the opportunity to share our latest developments in recovery-supportive housing for men and affordable apartments for seniors, right here in Washington, PA!

In partnership with City Tee Shirt Co., we were able to highlight our latest on-the-job training program, which allows participants to gain hands-on training and experience through screen printing and 3D printing. At the Expo, this included free t-shirts featuring our new logo and low cost 3D-printed realtor business card holders created through the program. These initiatives represent more than products—they create real opportunities for skill-building, workforce development, and sustainable career growth.

We are deeply grateful for the partnerships, new friends, and shared vision that continue to move OUR county forward.

Black Balloon Day is a day of remembrance, love, and truth. 🖤 Today, we pause to honor every life lost to overdose—and to hold close the families, friends, and communities forever changed by their absence.

At Serenity Farms, we believe every life deserves dignity. Every struggle deserves compassion. And every person battling substance use disorder deserves a pathway to hope, healing, and recovery.

Today, we lift up those in grief. We stand beside those still fighting. And we recommit to breaking the stigma that keeps too many suffering in silence.

You are seen. You are valued. You matter. Hope is still possible. Healing is still possible. You are still worth saving. Our doors—and our hearts—remain open.

Recovery Meetings are held every day in Meeting Room 204 because no one should walk this journey alone.

At Serenity Farms, we honor the roots that nourish our future—both literally and figuratively. And in Southwestern Pennsylvania, few roots run deeper than those planted by Dr. George Glasgo Turfley, the first registered African American doctor in Allegheny County.

Born in Pittsburgh’s Hill District in 1855, Dr. Turfley pushed through barriers with determination stronger than steel. From graduating Central High School in 1876, to earning his medical degree in 1879, he returned home to serve his community at a time when he was the only Black doctor in Pittsburgh for more than a decade.

He made house calls “up and down Fifth Avenue” by horse and buggy, cared for generations of families, and laid the foundation for Black medical professionals across Southwestern PA—including right here in Washington County, where his influence encouraged future leaders, healers, educators, and advocates.

His legacy lives on through, representation that opened doors for Black clinicians, regional migration and community building between Pittsburgh and Washington County. A family lineage that shaped athletics, youth programs, healthcare, and civic life, Dr. Turfley showed us that healing is more than medicine—it’s service, dignity, commitment, and community.

At Serenity Farms, we honor the deep roots that nourish our future—and few roots in Southwestern Pennsylvania run deeper than those of Major Dr. Martin R. Delany. Born free in 1812, he walked from Chambersburg to Pittsburgh as a teenager, determined to study medicine by lamplight and serve his community with courage that could outshine any steel mill spark.

Through cholera outbreaks, discrimination, and systemic obstacles, he stayed—treating the sick when others fled, advocating fearlessly for justice, and shaping the Hill District into a hub of resilience. His journey led him to Washington County as well, learning alongside abolitionist Dr. Francis LeMoyne and strengthening the region’s Underground Railroad legacy.

From founding The Mystery, the first Black owned newspaper west of the Alleghenies, to co editing The North Star with Frederick Douglass, Delany proved that Southwestern PA voices can ignite national change. And in 1865, President Lincoln commissioned him as a Major—the first Black field grade officer in U.S. Army history.

Today, his impact still echoes across Pittsburgh, Washington County, and every community that believes in dignity, representation, and hope. At Serenity Farms, we carry his legacy forward—uplifting seniors, supporting veterans, standing beside unhoused neighbors, and walking with individuals in recovery. Because hope grows where service takes root, and we’re committed to tending that garden every day.
