Shame on . I have tried to accept UHC Medicaid but the rate they were willing to pay a small practice was far less than overhead. I am now out-of-network with UHC. I see many kids with disabilities at clinics held by their special schools. These kids are marginalized and often cannot get to hospitals for appointments and for Pediatric Physiatry, the wait for appointments is at least 6-9 months. The school clinics are often the only place they can get their medical care. Now, UHC has seen it fit to refuse to honor my prescriptions I write for these kids at their school clinics because. I am not in network with them. I am a credentialed Medicaid physician in NJ and I'm just not contracted with UHC's Medicaid HMO. We do not bill insurance for the visit. Now, they will not honor my prescription even though I am a board certified pediatric physiatrist, associate professor at NJ Medical School, and a NJ Medicaid credentialed physician. These kids cannot just get an appointment with an in-network UHC Medicaid HMO pediatric physiatrist. There are less than 10 of us in the entire state. This is just heartless and disgusting behavior by UHC and cannot be legal. These children and their families are suffering because of UHC's greed.
