Drip, drip… not so hooray.

If you’re constantly clearing your throat, dealing with a lingering cough, or feeling like mucus is stuck in your throat, could be the reason.

This common condition happens when excess mucus collects in the back of the nose and throat and can be triggered by allergies, colds, sinus infections, weather changes, irritants, or even acid reflux.

While post-nasal drip is often manageable with simple treatments and home remedies, persistent symptoms may need medical evaluation to identify the underlying cause.

Read our blog to learn about common symptoms, causes, treatment options, and when it may be time to see a doctor.

Frequent throat clearing? Hoarseness? A feeling like something is stuck in your throat?

It may not be allergies, it could be acid reflux.

When stomach acid flows back into the esophagus, it’s known as (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease). When it travels even higher into the throat or voice box, it’s called (Laryngopharyngeal Reflux). Unlike classic reflux, LPR often occurs without heartburn.

Common symptoms can include:
• Chronic cough
• Excess mucus
• Hoarseness or voice changes
• Difficulty swallowing
• A lump sensation in the throat

At , we evaluate and treat reflux-related throat and voice concerns, including swallowing disorders. If symptoms are happening twice a week or more, it may be time for an evaluation.

When acid repeatedly “refluxes” from the stomach into the esophagus alone, it is known as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
