Personnel from the Waterford Regional Fire recently completed training focused on high rise building operations. This training was designed to strengthen the department’s proficiency in managing low frequency but high complexity emergency scenarios within multi story structures.

The Waterford Regional Fire Department responded to 17,227 calls for service in 2025, the highest call volume in our department’s history. Even more impressively, we are already on pace to exceed that number in 2026!

We proudly serve our communities from nine fire stations, operating seven engines, two ladder trucks, one heavy rescue, and five ALS rescue units. As call volume continues to rise, our commitment never changes—we are always here to answer the call.

Speaking of community, did you know the Fire Department has a Community Connect page? Beginning January 1, 2026, this will be where residents can apply for campfire permits and access important department information.

Today members of Waterford Professional Firefighters Union hit local stores to shop for families in need of a little help this year. In partnership with Waterford School District and Pontiac School District we are able to provide holiday gifts for over 70 children this season in the communities we serve.

As we gear up for a fun and spooky Halloween, let’s take a moment to keep safety top of mind—especially for our little trick-or-treaters!

🕯️ Ditch the Candles
Use battery-operated flashlights or glow sticks instead of candles in jack-o’-lanterns to reduce fire risk.

👗 Costume Caution
Choose costumes that avoid long, trailing fabric which can be a tripping hazard or catch fire.

🔥 Stay Clear of Flames
Remind kids to steer clear of open flames, such as candles or fire pits, while out and about.

🏠 Safe & Spooky Porches
If your porch is extra spooky this year, make sure there’s plenty of space for kids to safely walk up and down without tripping or crowding.

Help support your Waterford Fire Fighters, Local 1335 in their battle to help fight Breast Cancer. In the last 3 years, the Local 1335 has donated almost $15,000 back to local women fighting this horrible disease. Get your gear to show your support for the Fight against Breast Cancer for the month of October. Proceeds will benefit women currently fighting the battle.

The Waterford Regional Fire Department Union is proud to partner with Mission 22 to raise awareness and support for veteran su***de prevention. We're selling these custom t-shirts to raise funds for Mission 22.

WHY IS IT CALLED "MISSION 22”? The name "Mission 22" originates from a campaign aimed at raising awareness about the estimated 22 Veterans who die by su***de each day, based on a 2013 Department of Veterans Affairs report. Their mission is to combat this statistic by providing support and resources to Veterans and their families.

Every purchase makes a difference and a portion of every sale will be donated to Mission 22. Help us show our veterans that they are not alone and that we stand with them.

Did you know…

That Firefighters have a 9% higher risk of developing cancer and a 14% higher risk of dying from cancer compared to the general public?

The World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) rated a firefighter’s occupational exposure at its highest level, a “Class 1 threat carcinogenic to humans1.”

Yesterday, staff from McLaren Oakland provided our firefighters with a cancer screening clinic. They are extremely supportive of us and the risks that we take. They know that if we are sick, we aren't able to help our community. We can't thank McLaren enough for supporting us and looking out for our health!
