We were honored to host a delegation from the British High Commission on a visit to Uganda’s Jinja and Iganga districts. This visit was a crucial opportunity to showcase the early progress of our programme, which launched a few months ago.

The team engaged with district leaders, community gatekeepers, and health facility staff, gaining valuable insights into how the programme is strengthening health systems and expanding women’s access to quality maternal health care.

The visit included stops at district headquarters, health facilities, community outreaches, and Iganga Hospital, where partners observed firsthand how EMPOWER is improving service delivery and promoting sustainable, community-led engagement.

We are grateful for this partnership and the British High Commission’s engagement as we work to ensure every woman has access to critical health services.

In Nigeria, we’re advancing a bold vision for women-led innovation.

Through Women&Co, Pathfinder is collaborating with Nigerian women leaders across health, climate, and economic sectors to co-design new pathways for progress — locally rooted, inclusive, and system-shifting.

Our aim is simple but powerful: to strengthen communities by placing women at the center of solutions that improve wellbeing, resilience, and opportunity. Together, we’re building the foundation for a future where women’s leadership drives lasting change for everyone.

This week in Cairo, Pathfinder officially kicked off stakeholder workshops for proposal development under the Sustainable Adaptation for Healthcare Advancement (SAHA) Programme, a vital initiative with the Green Climate Fund.

The goal? To build climate-resilient health systems for 26.1 million people across Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, and Oman.

Our first stakeholder workshop was a resounding success, bringing together a powerhouse of expertise in Egypt. We extend our sincere thanks to our partners from: Egypt's Ministry of Health and Population & Ministry of Environment, The Egyptian Healthcare Authority, World Health Organization, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), UNDP.

Together, we are co-designing the national components of the SAHA programme, ensuring that local needs and knowledge are at the core of climate-adapted healthcare.

Thanks to our panel of experts: Dr. Amgad Elmahdi, Dr. Sadhana Bhagwat, Mohamed Bayoumi, Dr. Tarek Nomeir, and Mahitab Elrammal. And to our moderator, Dr. Basim Saleh.

Mobile health clinics are a high-impact innovation that literally drive lifesaving care right to the doorsteps of communities often left behind by the traditional health system.

At Pathfinder, we're passionate about making healthcare accessible to everyone. That's why, through our J-Matassa program in rural Niger, we're using this approach to overcome the huge hurdles of time and travel costs. We're currently reaching thousands of people with a full, integrated service package, including:

• prenatal consultations
• family planning
• childhood vaccinations
• sexually transmitted disease services

“In times of limited resources, mobile services offer a flexible, efficient, and equitable response, bringing essential care directly to communities, while increasing access to health services for all,” said Dr. Asma Gali, Pathfinder’s Country Director in Niger.

Today, on International Day of the Girl Child, and every day, we amplify the call for equality, opportunity, and dignity for every girl, everywhere.

We see the formidable challenges, dangers, and injustices girls worldwide face. But we also see something more powerful: the immense opportunity their leadership, resilience, and potential bring.

Our CEO, Dr. Tabinda Sarosh, recently joined Kate Roberts on her podcast "S*x, Body, and Soul” to dive deep into these critical issues. Drawing from her experience as a health practitioner and women's rights advocate, Dr. Sarosh discusses how deeply rooted patriarchal systems and social norms often leave women’s and girls’ health and rights neglected.

Simply bringing healthcare to girls isn't enough—we must think bigger about what they need to truly thrive and lead.

The answer lies in systems change: working with communities, governments, and health workers to build long-term solutions that stick and creating supportive ecosystems the offer quality healthcare alongside things like birth certificaties, bank accounts, business opportunities, and legal protections.

Last week, we celebrated and bid farewell to Dr. Mengistu Asnake, a true public health champion who has dedicated 26 years of service to Pathfinder Ethiopia.

From his early days as a physician to his remarkable leadership as Country Representative and global advocate, Dr. Mengistu has been the heart of our mission—guiding programs that have touched millions of lives, strengthened health systems, and inspired generations of leaders.

His vision, compassion, and unwavering commitment to communities across Ethiopia and beyond have left a legacy that will continue to shape the future of reproductive health and rights for years to come.
