"Witching you a Happy Halloween," from the Western Region! La Crosse Special Recreation hosted a Halloween Party this past Friday. We gathered together for a community dinner, showed off our crafty side, shared laughs among friends, and participated in a costume contest. Wayne was voted "Scariest Costume" for the second year in a row!

On October 18th, four Western Region clients ventured to Schwoegler's Park Towne Lanes in Madison for the Special Olympics Wisconsin Bowling Regional Tournament. The group has been practicing hard every Sunday since September. We could not be prouder of their dedication, sportsmanship, and enthusiasm! They stepped away with a 1st place, two 2nd places, and a 6th place. Each client continues to practice hard in preparation for the State Tournament in Wausau on December 7th. 🥇🥈🏅

On October 19th, eleven Western Region clients spent the day feeling fancy at the Special Needs Prom: Fiesta en Mexico. We cannot thank the Special Needs Dream Team enough for organizing such a special day. Our clients had the opportunity to undergo glam (hair and make-up) from local salons that donated their talent at the Bittersweet Flower Market. We then transitioned into The Greenhouse event space for a community lunch and an afternoon of dancing thanks to DJ Brettly. Our very own Lynette was crowned the 2025 Prom Queen!

Thank you again to our 2025 event sponsors, those who donated items for our basket raffle, volunteers, and staff who made our fall fundraiser a success!

We raised $14,000 that will directly benefit our clients and support our mission of providing high-quality services and care for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Wisconsin.

Day 1 was filled with meaningful conversations, meeting new people, and listening to our very own Board Members in one of the sessions. We are proud of Kristi Schunemann and Dave Morstad for presenting on the importance of disability representation at the board level.
