Great night of pump ops training at Summit Fire Department. I didn’t get pictures, but the lightning made it look like pictures were taken! We finished before the weather started. Great job and thanks for for the invite.

Ever Wonder What a Fire Department Engineer Does?

Sure, you see them driving the fire engine but that’s just the tip of the iceberg!

Fire Engineers are the behind-the-scenes heroes who keep everything running smoothly during an emergency. Here’s a peek at what they really do:

🚒 Pump Pro:
They control the engine’s water pump, making sure firefighters have the pressure they need when battling flames. It’s a high-stakes balancing act too little pressure, and it’s ineffective… too much, and hoses can burst!

🧰 Gear Guru:
From saws to generators to thermal cameras, engineers know where everything is and how to get it working in seconds flat.

⚙️ Apparatus Expert:
They inspect and maintain every piece of the fire truck to keep it running like a champ. Lights, brakes, tools nothing is overlooked.

🧭 Skilled Driver:
Navigating a 30,000-pound vehicle through traffic? No problem. They get crews to the scene quickly and safely, every single time.

🧯 Scene Support:
While crews are inside fighting fire, the engineer is outside running the operation managing equipment, monitoring gauges, and ensuring everyone’s safety.

So the next time you hear sirens or see a fire truck rolling by, remember: there’s an engineer behind the wheel, making sure the mission is a success.

Give it up for the firehouse engineers they truly are the unsung heroes of the crew!
