What is Functional Medicine?

Functional Medicine is a medical care approach that seeks to take a root cause look at what might be causing dis-ease and symptoms to develop. By looking deeper into the complexity of your body systems to uncover the source of your symptoms, we have a better chance to reverse the problem and restore health.

Functional Medicine is the type of care which demands understanding and participation from the patient. To meet that demand, more time is spent listening to your story. Functional medicine will teach you what might be blocking your own natural health from rising to the surface. Through education on nutrition, lifestyle, and environmental exposures you are nurtured back to your optimal wellness. In some instances we use supplements and medications to guide your body back to wellness.

Functional Medicine is not about a ‘quick fix’, but is particularly best suited to manage complex chronic symptoms. Dysfunction that likely took years to develop would be expected to take weeks or even months before you are turned toward wellness.
