Northern Light Health and First Atlantic Healthcare have added the Northern Light Continuing Care, Lakewood long term care facility in Waterville to the Northern Light Health/First Atlantic Corporation family of long-term care facilities. Effective December 1, 2025, Lakewood will transition to the joint venture, and its business name will be changed to Lakewood Healthcare Center, LLC. The main phone number of 207.873.5125 will remain the same. As a result, this page will be closed. We welcome followers of this page to follow any of our other Northern Light Health pages.

Congratulations, CNA graduates!

We are excited to announce that Faith Giles, Summer Nesbit, and Kierra Romero successfully graduated from Northern Light Continuing Care, Lakewood’s certified nursing assistant training program. Additionally, all three students passed the Maine State CNA exam with high scores. We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills to becoming the next generation of top-notch CNA professionals, employed by Lakewood.

Lakewood loves our veterans! We recently celebrated and honored our resident veterans in a few special ways. Three members from the Barrows Skidgel American Legion Post 105 in Newport made and donated a beautiful, large shadowbox to safely display a veterans-themed quilt. They delivered the shadowbox to the facility and helped secure it to a wall in our Long-Term Care neighborhood while resident veterans observed. Afterwards, they all shared coffee, donut holes, and conversation in the Activity Room.

On Veterans Day, we honored our veterans with a special certificate ceremony which was attended by residents; families; staff members; Randy Clark, Inland Hospital president; and Nick Isgro, former Waterville mayor.

One of our residents, whose husband was in the service, read a poem during the ceremony, and a few staff members also shared some readings. The room was adorned with patriotic decorations, and the American flag stood tall near the POW MIA Remembrance Table. Residents sang some patriotic songs together and ended the program with a tribute to the veterans we have lost.

Free job training that leads to a rewarding career with competitive pay and benefits? We can help with that! Our next CNA course will begin in December, and we'd love for you to join us!

Students accepted into the course will receive training at no cost and be paid for time spent learning in the classroom and hospital. The combination of education and work time (as a unit helper) will make students full-time employees while in training.

We couldn’t have “picked” a better day to go the apple orchard! Recently, several residents accompanied by staff had fun picking apples and getting some homemade apple cider to share with other residents back at Lakewood.

Jacob Moose has been an LPN for 12 years and says nowhere he's worked compared to Northern Light Continuing Care - Lakewood. "The teamwork, the compassion, and the genuine care we give every day to our patients is unmatched," says Jacob.
