We are forever grateful to the military, veterans, all the first responders who answered the call on 9/11.
Today, we pause to remember the heroes, the lives lost, and the families whose lives were forever changed.
You are in our thoughts and prayers — always remembered, never forgotten. ❤️

When you see something that gives you the feel goods, share it!

This special moment was a joy to witness. Dani, Occupational Therapist for Iroquois Home Health was spotted in the IMHRH Courtyard with her patient showing him the flourishing raised vegetable gardens and beautiful flower beds. As a lifelong farmer, he really seemed to be enjoying himself while soaking up some vitamin D after his therapy session.
This isn't the only time Dani has been spotted giving her patients extra TLC. She has also brought patients outside to do some arm strenthening therapy while in the courtyard simutaneously enjoying the bunnies, squirrels and birds around them.

Thank you Iroquois Home Health. Your team's dedication shines through in the way you care for your patients. It's clear that your work is more than a job to you.

Helpful Tips: How to Alleviate Swelling

Elevate your legs above heart level to help blood flow and reduce fluid buildup.

Wear compression socks to gently squeeze the legs and minimize fluid pooling, especially if you’ll be standing or sitting for long periods. ( There are some really cute and fun compression socks for our fashionista's.)😁

Stay cool and hydrated to regulate your body temperature and reduce fluid retention. 🫗

Limit your salt intake, as salt consumption can exacerbate water retention in the legs. 🧂

Stay cool and be safe everyone it's going to be dangerously hot outside this week!

Know your As and Ps (Aches and Pains)

What are some common types of aches and pains?

Muscle
Can be associated with overuse, poor posture, weakness.

Joint
Can be caused from loss of joint cartilage, arthritis, obesity

Head
Types include migraine, cluster, tension

Back
Can be muscular, neurological, or spinal. May be associated with pain radiating down the buttocks or legs.

Stomach
Some potential causes can include indigestion, gas, food allergies, stress, infection

Aches and pains can be associated with aging, busy schedules, and lifestyle to name a few causes. While most of the time aches and pains are not serious, they can affect our quality of life. Sometimes there may be a more serious cause for concern.

Seek medical advice if you experience:

Pain that is severe or doesn’t improve with rest;
Pain with fever, weight loss, or fatigue;
Sudden sharp pain in chest, head, or abdomen;
Swelling, redness, rash, or warmth over a joint;
Numbness or weakness;
Pain after a fall or injury

Things you can do to help prevent Aches and Pains

Stay Active - Keeps your muscles and joints in good working condition

Maintain good posture - avoid prolonged positions

Stay hydrated and eat a healthy diet - unhealthy diets can cause inflammation which can lead to aches and pains throughout the body

Be mindful of your Stress: Tension can cause or worsen pain

Sleep: Quality rest supports healing and reduces pain sensitivity
