We offer an open, peaceful, creative and safe environment for our clients to learn and grow in a healthy way. We are proponents of a psychological concept called Mindfulness which is clinically proven to help people reduce stress, improve mental focus and strengthen coping skills. We work with individuals, families, groups, businesses and community organizations to help them achieve their goals for healthier, more productive and fulfilled living/functioning.

Couldn’t agree more!! Turn off the TV, put the phones down & do something fun, get outside, move your body, read a good book, play a game, take your dog for a walk, visit your local library or favorite coffee shop, shop local…the options are endless! Do something healthy that will help you to relax, lift your mood & rejuvenate your mind, body & spirit☮️❤️

“But how will we read your quotes?” This is a call to keep digital boundaries. You miss what you miss; you see what you see. Sometimes being informed is actually just being misinformed. We weren’t meant to absorb endless streams of news, arguments, propaganda, and other people’s emotions around the clock. When you consume too much information without pause, your body stays in a state of alert, even when there’s no immediate danger. Taking time off the internet is a way of telling your nervous system it’s safe to rest.

Sharing this amazing local story of strength & resilience as it really spoke to me & I know so many who are hanging by a thread looking for some inspo. I met Carla aka Mindfully Carly a few years back, connecting over our shared passion for holistic wellness. We continue to support each other’s businesses & I regularly see how her beautiful bright light helps others. Carla teaches yoga, reiki & meditation in the McHenry area. Give her a call to find out how she might be able to help you naturally strengthen your wellness!

My Story

In my early twenties, I began exploring a holistic approach to well-being. I found myself in a local wellness shop, buying herbs, vitamins, teas, and natural remedies. More importantly, I began connecting with like-minded people who introduced me to meditation and the idea that healing could be more than just physical.

Then, in 2002, everything changed.

I was involved in a severe car accident when another driver hit me head-on. My car flipped upside down and came to rest half hanging over a bridge wall, suspended above a dry ravine, with a semi-truck barreling toward me from behind. The truck driver later said it felt as though he had hit a brick wall.

I was unconscious at first. When I came to, I unbuckled my seatbelt and slid out through the window while hanging upside down. I was airlifted to a major hospital with two broken legs, a broken ankle, and a fractured clavicle. My body was completely broken. My chest was deeply bruised—so much so it resembled a rotting banana.

After four surgeries, five ambulance rides, and weeks upon weeks of physical therapy, I slowly began to heal. At one point, I was taking up to twelve Percocet a day, along with blood thinners and muscle relaxers. Despite everything, I was determined to drive again—and even more determined to reclaim my body without relying on medication.

That’s when meditation, breathwork, relaxation techniques, and chair yoga truly became lifelines. These practices helped reduce my pain, calm my nervous system, and ease the PTSD that followed the accident. They reminded me that healing was not just about fixing what was broken, but learning how to feel safe in my body again.

In December of 2014, I took a leap of faith and started a meditation company. What began as meditation soon expanded into workshops, classes, and events. I collaborated with other teachers and practitioners, all of us working together to support others on their own wellness journeys.

In 2018, Mindfully Carly was born.

Today, Mindfully Carly is a space rooted in compassion, accessibility, and empowerment. I am a mindfulness advocate, meditation teacher, gentle and subtle yoga instructor, and Reiki Master.

Some food for thought from a couple of daily devotionals that I’ve been enjoying ‘The Daily Stoic’ & ‘Everyday Spirit’ ✨
✔️Focus inward vs outward.
✔️Know that the one & only thing you have control over is you.
✔️Own your awesome truth. We are spirits who are hardwired to grow toward the light.
✔️When you expect miracles you experience miracles. Believe anything is possible.

Gently greeting 2026 with some self-care via a soothing cup of hot of tea whilst staying warm & cozy with my sweet pup & taking in some wisdom & philosophy from new read ‘The Daily Stoic’ 🍵🐶📚.
So far love the book, concepts really resonate…many things I have been saying in my counseling sessions for years tbh 😆.
Here are a few good ancient gems to keep in mind to help navigate the complexities of life in the new year…
The 3 disciplines of Stoicism:
✔️Perception. Control your perceptions.
✔️Action. Direct your actions properly.
✔️Will. Willingly accept what’s outside your control.
• The one & only thing we have control over is ourselves in the present moment. 💯
• (Self) Knowledge is freedom. Do your homework. Educate yourself. 📝
• The power of no. Say yes only to the things that mean most to you.👍🏼
• Clarify your intentions. Live life with intent & also be flexible with outcomes. ✨
Thanks to Counselor Nicole for this awesome new read! Nikki is a seasoned school social worker & our awesome in-house therapist who specializes in working with kids & teens, helping them to navigate the ups & downs of growing up, and also supports young adults as they transition to adulthood.
