The winter gardening class delved into the fascinating world of fermentation today as part of our after harvest study of food preservation techniques. We decided on sauerkraut and had great fun prepping, cutting and brining our cabbage. We’ll taste test every week for a couple months to gauge our success! Fingers crossed 🤞 😄

Last week a group of us went to Lambeau Field for the day. We took a tour of the stadium and saw a luxury box, the tunnels beneath the seats, and the field. We also went to the Packers Hall of Fame and saw exhibits and memorabilia from the great players, games, and moments in Packers history. We had a great time and were happy to share this experience together! Go Pack Go!

In honor of Día de los Mu***os, our Townin’ Around group rode the city bus to Prairie Home Cemetery to honor the late, great Les Paul. 🎸 We talked about how Waukesha’s creativity and artistic culture are deeply inspired by this hometown icon — whose innovations in music and technology changed the world. For those who may not know, Les Paul, born in Waukesha in 1915, was a legendary musician and the inventor of the solid-body electric guitar and multi-track recording.

At his gravesite, we respectfully left small ceramic flowers made by Art Links Works artists for Les and his mother (who rests beside him). We shared a moment of silence and reflection, discussing how his legacy encourages us to stay creative and never give up on our ideas.

Afterward, we strolled through the cemetery looking for hidden gems. The group noted how watching the birds and taking in the autumn colors felt peaceful and inspiring — a beautiful way to celebrate creativity, remembrance, and connection. 🍂✨

The ACAP community is saddened to share the passing of former ACAP board member and long-time Waukesha public service leader Geraldine Wuerslin. "Gerry" passed away at age 93 on Oct. 11. She was active in Waukesha civic governance for many years. Among her many accomplishments were being the first woman appointed to the Waukesha City Plan Commission, a city alderperson, Common Council President, and a member of the Waukesha County Environmental Council. She also served as a member of the Regional Justice Planning Committee and as staff on the Victim Assistance Support Project.

We are proud to have had the support of this powerhouse of a public servant at ACAP. We also are grateful to the family for choosing ACAP for memorial gifts, along with Milwaukee Public Television.
