More Fiber Is a Hill I’ll Die On 🌿

And I’m not being dramatic.

Most women are under eating fiber.
By a lot.

And it affects everything:

Hormones
Gut health
Blood sugar
Cholesterol
Inflammation
Cravings
Weight loss
Energy

Fiber helps your body:

Clear excess estrogen
Balance insulin
Feed your gut microbiome
Reduce bloating (yes, really)
Improve digestion
Support fat loss
Lower inflammation

When fiber is low, we see:
More hormone chaos
More constipation
More sugar cravings
More stubborn weight
More fatigue

Coincidence? Not at all.

Perimenopause makes this even more important.
Your body needs more support, not less.

Aim for fiber at every meal:
Vegetables
Berries
Beans
Seeds
Whole grains

Pair it with protein.
Drink water.
Increase slowly.

Simple. Powerful. Underrated.

If you want better hormones,
start with your gut.

Okay this is going to be FUN.

We are doing a Blind Date with a Book… and then taking that book to Pilates.

Here’s how it works:

Starting March 18
Head to Prairie Pages and ask for the Blind Date with a Book pick for our April book club event.

The title? Secret.
The cover? Wrapped.
The vibe? Trust the bookstore magic.

Buy the book. Take it home. Unwrap it. Read it during April.

Then…

On April 29
Grab your mat
Bring your book
Wear comfy clothes
Meet us at Prairie Pages

We’ll roll out our mats right inside the bookstore, move through a feel good Pilates class, and yes… your book will be used as a prop during class. Think strong arms, core work, and maybe a little literary flair.

After we move, we’ll circle up and chat about the book. No pressure. No pop quizzes. Just conversation.

A few things you might be wondering:

Do I have to be “good” at Pilates?
Nope. All levels welcome.

What if I don’t love the book?
That might make the discussion even better.

Do I need to buy from Prairie Pages?
Yes. That’s part of the collaboration and how we support local.

Is space limited?
Yes. First come, first serve. Your purchased book is your ticket.

This is for the woman who loves strong bodies, good stories, and supporting local businesses.

I cannot wait to move between the shelves with you.

Why I Hold Such High Standards

Because you trust me with your body.
Your health.
Your story.
Your goals.

That is not something I take lightly.

High standards mean:
I keep learning.
I stay current.
I question trends.
I choose evidence over hype.
I do the hard work behind the scenes.

It means I don’t cut corners.
I don’t offer shortcuts.
I don’t recommend things I wouldn’t use myself.

It means every plan is thoughtful.
Every recommendation has a reason.
Every patient is treated like they matter.
Because they do.

You deserve care that is ethical.
Intentional.
Personal.
And rooted in integrity.

Excellence isn’t about being perfect.
It’s about being committed.

Committed to doing what’s right.
Even when it’s harder.
Even when it takes longer.

That’s the standard at Kee Health.

Why Physical Balance Matters More Than You Think

Balance isn’t just about “not falling.”

For women, especially in midlife, balance is a powerful marker of:
Strength
Hormone health
Brain function
Bone density
Nervous system health
Longevity

When hormones shift, we often see changes in:
Muscle tone
Joint stability
Reaction time
Inner ear function
Confidence in movement

That’s why balance becomes so important.

Good balance means:
Your core is working.
Your hips are strong.
Your feet are responsive.
Your brain and body are communicating well.

It means you move with confidence.
You trust your body.
You’re less likely to get injured.
You protect your bones.

Poor balance increases fall risk.
Falls increase fracture risk.
Fractures change lives.

So yes, we train balance on purpose.

Single leg work.
Stability challenges.
Controlled transitions.
Functional strength.

Not to make things harder.
To make life easier.

Because strong women deserve steady bodies.

And balance is part of real health.

Tension vs. Injury
Know the Difference

Not every ache means you’re “hurt.”
And not every pain should be ignored.

Here’s a simple way to think about it:

Tension usually feels like:
• Tight, stiff, or achy
• Comes and goes
• Feels better with movement, stretching, heat, or massage
• Often shows up during stress, long workdays, or poor posture

Injury often feels like:
• Sharp, intense, or worsening pain
• Swelling, bruising, or weakness
• Pain that limits movement
• Pain that doesn’t improve or keeps getting worse

Tension is your body asking for support.
Injury is your body asking for protection.

Both deserve attention.
But they require different approaches.

Learning the difference helps you:
• Move with confidence
• Avoid unnecessary fear
• Get the right care sooner
• Prevent small issues from becoming big ones

If you’re unsure which one you’re dealing with, that’s what we’re here for.

Listen to your body.
Respect the signals.
And don’t guess when it comes to your health.

Can GLP-1 Drugs Help Calm Mast Cells? Here’s What the Research Is Showing

A recent scientific report looked at whether GLP-1 receptor agonists (medications like semaglutide or tirzepatide) might help people with mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS) — a condition where mast cells release too many inflammatory chemicals like histamine and cause symptoms across the body.

What researchers found:
In a group of 47 people with difficult-to-treat MCAS, about 89% experienced improvement in their symptoms after using a GLP-1 drug.

What Does This Really Mean in Simple Terms?

1. Mast Cells Have “GLP-1 Receptors”
Mast cells — the immune cells that fire off histamine and cause flares — have receptors that these drugs can bind to. That’s the first step for any effect.

2. These Meds May Calm the Cells Down
When a GLP-1 medication attaches to those receptors, it might help the mast cells “stay calm” instead of bursting open and releasing chemicals that make symptoms worse.

3. This Isn’t Just About Blood Sugar
These drugs were originally made for blood sugar and weight control, but they also affect inflammation and immune cell behavior — which is why scientists are curious about them for conditions like MCAS.

Curious? Ask about how we can help.

Perimenopause Friendly Fruits 🍉🍑🥑🍒🍊

When hormones start shifting, your body needs more support.
Not restriction.
Not extremes.
Not fear around food.

These fruits are some of my favorites for women in perimenopause:

Watermelon
Peaches
Plums
Papaya
Avocados
Oranges
Grapes
Cherries

Here’s why they matter:

They support hydration and help with hot flashes.
They reduce inflammation and joint aches.
They support liver detox and hormone balance.
They improve digestion and gut health.
They help stabilize energy and mood.
They support skin, hair, and sleep.

Translation:
They help your body work better during this season.

Pro tip: Pair fruit with protein or healthy fat for better blood sugar balance.

Think:
Cherries + nuts
Papaya + yogurt
Orange + eggs
Watermelon + cottage cheese
Avocado + protein

Food is information.
And when you choose wisely, your hormones respond.

You don’t need less food.
You need smarter support.
