Joellen A. Simpson

age 90, of Wausaukee, passed away peacefully Monday October 20, 2025, at Rennes Health & Rehab-West. She was born in LaPorte, Indiana on April 2, 1935; daughter of the late William and Ruth (Smith) Gring Sr. She was united in marriage to Kenny Simpson on October 9, 1954. In 1979, they purchased a hobby farm, which they later restored before moving to the area in 1982. Joellen began volunteering at the Wausaukee Library, a role that eventually became her full-time job—a job she truly loved. She organized concerts in the park, proudly served as Queen Mom of the Red Hat Club, and was also active on the election board for both the Town and Village of Wausaukee. Joellen enjoyed keeping active.

Joellen is survived by her two children: Teri (Skip) Simpson and Donald (Laurie) Simpson; grandson, Jonathon (Elise), and great grandchildren: Drake, Ariana, and Brantley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenny; and brothers: William Jr. and Earl.

Visitation will be on Saturday October 25, 2025, at Roubal Funeral Home from 9am until the time of her service at 11am. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.

James J. Butzler

Born August 3rd, 1937 in Sparta Wisconsin, died peacefully October 19th, 2025 at the age of 88 years at Evergreen Retirement Community in Oshkosh, WI. Growing up near Sparta, Jim worked the family farm with his father, Al and mother, Marge raising and processing chickens and pigs. That experience stuck with him as chicken dinner was never his favorite meal. After graduating high school, Jim entered the seminary for a brief period. After that Jim joined the United States Navy in July, 1957. He served on the USS Randolf aircraft carrier as a deck hand and toured the Mediterranean before being honorably discharged in November, 1961.

Jim then worked construction, building bridges alongside his father Al with Lunda Construction for many years. That job led him to meet Carol Jean Monsen-Zenko while building the bridge north of Pembine. Jim and Carol Jean were married February 13, 1971. They were married over 50 years before Carol Jean’s passing in 2022. Jim was stepfather to Brad Zenko and father to Jay Butzler.

Jim then worked for Midwest Plastics in Pembine for several years until taking a job at GAF Kremlin Mine until his retirement.

Jim and Carol Jean were highly mobile keeping their main residence in Pembine, having a lake cabin in Armstrong Creek and wintering in Panama City Beach for many years. They were crowned the first King and Queen of Panama City Beach. They loved to be out and about and visit the casino as well as attending all the grandchildren’s birthdays and events.

Jim enjoyed golf, fishing for northern pike, deer hunting, trapping, craft making, pontoon rides and mostly being around people. Jim also was a member of the Pembine volunteer fire department for 20+ years, umpired little league games and ran the scoreboard for HS basketball. He was a long-standing member of the American Legion Honor Guard. Jim was a sweetheart of a man, kindhearted, helpful, never held a grudge, he was faithful and loved God, devoted to worshiping and always letting you know he loved you when signing off.

Jim is survived by his sons: Jay Butzler, (Jody) of Appleton, Brad Zenko (Peggy) of Fond du Lac. Four grandchildren: Mariam Butzler, Matthew Butzler, Kiefer Zenko (Colleen), Kelsey Zenko. Brother, Jerry Butzler, sister Charlene Metzger, sister Jeanie Butzler and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Al and Marge Butzler and wife Carol Jean.

Jim, Dad, Grandpa, and friend will be dearly missed by many. The memories, his presence and love will live on to those closest to him.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11am on Friday October 24, 2025, at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Pembine with Father Joe Dorner presiding. Visitation is at church from 9:30am until the time of Mass. Burial will take place in Pembine Cemetery immediately after Mass with full Military Honors provided by American Legion Post #461.

age 78, of Athelstane, passed away peacefully at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna on Tuesday September 30, 2025. She was born in Clintonville on April 11, 1947; daughter of the late Floyd and Velda (Gruetzmaeher) Olson. On May 9, 1966, she was united in marriage to Ronald Jokipii in Iron Mountain. A graduate of Clintonville High School, she dedicated nearly 30 years to a career in retail sales. In retirement, she and Ron enjoyed riding their side-by-side and traveling to Mexico, Las Vegas, and on numerous cruises. She had a love for bowling and found joy in watching birds, especially hummingbirds.

Jane is survived by her husband, Ron; two children: Christine (Allan) Bolwerk and Kevin (Tara) Jokipii; three grandchildren: Riley, Allyson, and Ross; and a sister, JoAnne (Gerald) Desens. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Judy, Jean, Jim and Janice

Visitation will be on Saturday October 11, 2025, at Roubal Funeral Home from 10a.m. until the time of her Memorial Service at 11a.m. Pastor Lynn Martin is officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Athelstane.

age 90, of Brillion, passed away peacefully September 29, 2025, at Edenbrook of Appleton. He was born in Amberg on July 20, 1935; son of Alvin and Barbara (Anglemeyer) Perry. Henry enlisted in the United States Army, where he served his country with honor and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. On March 2, 1956, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Jicha in Virginia. A skilled mechanic, Henry worked in Milwaukee for 30 years and also spent many years working in the woods. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, bowling, throwing horseshoes, and relaxing with a cold Milwaukee’s Best.

Henry is survived by his wife, Dorothy; four children: Donna Danowski, Wanda (Daniel) Girmschied, Joseph (Laurie) Perry and Randall (Patricia) Perry; 11 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; two siblings: Lyman and Emma; and numerous extended family and friends.

As per Henry’s wishes there will be no service held.

age 97, of Amberg, died peacefully at home on Sunday September 28, 2025. She was born in Wausaukee on March 8, 1928; daughter of Joseph and Anna (Koza) Wontor. Helen married John Parysz on June 14, 1952, in Chicago. She loved gardening, cooking, hosting family gatherings, and playing cards, but most of all, she cherished time spent with her family and grandpuppies.

Helen is survived by her two children: Patty (Mark) Vanden Bergh and Daniel Parysz; granddaughters: Megan, Sara (Neil), and Katie (Casey); one great granddaughter, Millie; brother, Edward; and further survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She preceded in death by her husband, John; and seven brothers.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11am on Saturday October 4, 2025, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Amberg with Father Dave Schmidt presiding. Visitation is at church from 10am until the time of Mass. Burial will take place in the Amberg Cemetery.

Louise Mary Johnson

age 91, formerly of Pembine, died peacefully Sunday September 21, 2025, at NewCare in Crivitz. She was born in Pembine on November 24, 1933; daughter of Andrew and Elma (Sudeth) Zenko. Louise married Robert Johnson on November 22, 1952, and they shared 44 years together until his passing on June 22, 1997. She was a gifted seamstress and worked at Tip Top Shows, as well as a CNA at Maryhill Manor and NewCare Convalescent Center. Louise enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR, and cheering for football—especially the Lions and Packers. Above all, she cherished her family and the time spent with her grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Grandma Good Cookies.”

Louise is survived by her children: Sandy Rosenkranze of Weyauwega, WI, Rhonda Erdey of Oshkosh, Dan (Debra) Johnson of Pembine, James (Ann) Johnson of Beecher, Andrew Johnson of Racine, Randy Johnson of Oshkosh, and Tim (Jacky) Johnson of Weyauwega; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandchildren: Adam Chaplin, Samuel Johnson, and Melissa Johnson; brother, Norman Zenko; sister, Beatrice Anshutz; and stepson, Ron Caroon.

Robert “Bob” Mueller

age 76, of Wausaukee, died peacefully at home on Monday September 15, 2025. He was born in Milwaukee on June 22, 1949; son of the late Robert and Agnes (Graczyk) Mueller. He began his career as an Industrial Mechanic, where he prepared and adjusted machinery for large-scale production. He later advanced to ABB Robotics, working as a Senior Systems Technician for 21 years until his retirement. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, cutting firewood, and spending time snowmobiling and riding his UTV. He was also an avid fan of the Brewers and the Packers.

Bob is survived by his wife, Victoria; two sons: Trevis A. (Lisa) Mueller and Troy M. Mueller; grandchildren: Ryan, Shaun, Heather (Brian) and Stuart (Amanda); 6 great grandchildren; and sister, Kay Ellen (Bernie) Prepodnik. He is preceded in death by his son, Todd; brother, Carl; and sister, Carol.

Visitation will be on Monday September 22, 2025, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Amberg from 9am until the time of his Memorial Mass Service at 11am. Father David Schmidt is officiating. Burial will be in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in Klondike.

Dennis Tomko

age 76, of Athelstane, passed away August 29, 2025, at Aurora Medical Center Bay Area. He was born in Washington County, Wis. on March 27, 1949; son of the late Michael and Arlene (Deering) Tomko Jr. After graduating from Germantown High School in 1967, he enlisted in the Army during the Vietnam era. He went on to spend more than 30 years working as a lineman for Wisconsin Bell before relocating to Athelstane in 1992. Dennis lived life in the fast lane-he loved riding his Harley, snowmobiling, watching NASCAR, and enjoying a cold Bud Light. In 2018, he and his wife Nancy opened Crazy Guyz Saloon in Athelstane, where he cherished the camaraderie and friendships built over the years.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Nancy; two daughters: Kristy (Cory) Motto and Stacy (Tim) Coulhard; stepdaughter, Lydia (Hayden) Davison; three grandchildren: Sawyer, Nolan, and Hanna; step-grandchildren: Theia and Atlas; and two brothers: Michael (Cindy) and Frank (Ann). He was preceded in death by his infant son and daughter; 1st wife, Judith; and sisters: Delores, Shirley, and Sharon.

Rhonda Sue (Bruesch) Mansfield

47, of Crivitz, was greeted by the loving arms of Jesus on Saturday, August 23rd, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones at Aurora Bay Care Hospital in Green Bay. Rhonda was born on March 22nd, 1978, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin to the late Gary Bruesch and Sue (Bruesch) Welty.

Rhonda attended Wausaukee High school until 1997. Soon after her teenage years she met Larry Mansfield who would become her husband. Rhonda and Larry would share many years, memories and a business together, R&L Detailing. Rhonda had a passion for cleaning, decorating, and helping people. Rhonda particularly loved flowers and taking hundreds of photos of many beautiful things, including a plethora of her favorites... selfies! Her life after Larry would lead her to having her son, Jace Timothy Gamlin. This is when Rhonda really found the love of her life. Jace was her pride and joy, and she enjoyed each and every moment they could spend together, especially shopping, traveling, and attending games Jace was playing in. She loved Jace to the moon and back and was his biggest fan. The last 6 years of her life were shared with a very special significant other, Jason Wagner. Jason filled Rhonda’s last years with love and grace. He spent countless hours with her and Jace and was there for everything they needed. The last years for Rhonda were filled with many happy times with those near and dear to her.

Rhonda is survived by her son, Jace; her Parents: Tim & Sue Welty; Sister, Kim (Troy) Hanson; Brother, Peter (Kim) Bruesch; Significant Other, Jason Wagner; aunt, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her Father, Gary Bruesch; Ex Husband, Larry Mansfield; and Grandmother, Carol Kramer.

Visitation will be on September 13th, 2025, at Porterfield Lutheran Church, in Porterfield WI, from 10-1 with a short service to follow. Family is asking for anyone who would like to share a short, lighthearted memory or story to do so during the service time. Rhonda would want these memories to be shared and to hear from her friends. A light meal will take place after.

86, formerly Amberg, passed away Thursday July 24, 2025, at Sun Valley Home in Marinette. She was born in Kentucky on May 17, 1939; daughter of Clay and Hazel Allen. Melda graduated from MC Napier High School in Hazard, Kentucky. She and her husband Henry moved to Amberg in 1969 and started working at the Boat Factory in Wausaukee. She thoroughly enjoyed gardening and canning, reading books and word search puzzles.

Melda is survived by her son, Henry; grandson, Shane Cassel; great grandson, Tyler Osmanski; and great great grandchildren: Kymzlee and Tyce. She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry; two infant children; and daughter-in-law, Janet.

Graveside Service with short visitation will start at 12:45pm with burial at 1pm on Friday August 1, 2025, in the Amberg Cemetery.

Joy Ethel “Snooky” Schlais

of Kingsford, formerly of Pembine, WI and Marquette, MI passed away Monday June 30, 2025, peacefully at home. She was born August 20, 1927 in Amberg, WI to Peter and Amy (Fraker) McTrusty, the youngest of six children. Her father contracted TB and died when she was a year and a half. He gave her the nickname “Snooky” and it stayed with her all through the years. She lived in the Amberg area all of her early years and graduated from Amberg High School in 1945. On December 28, 1946 she married Harold Schlais. They celebrated 61 years of marriage before his death on January 7, 2008. The couple had three children, Randy, Penny and Sherry. Snooky and Harold farmed in Pembine Twp., WI for approximately 10 years before Harold took a job with Interstate Welding Sales. The family moved to Marinette, WI for a year and then to Marquette, MI where they lived until 1989.

When her children were a little older Snooky entered the workforce. She worked as the financial secretary for Messiah Lutheran Church and then at Paine Webber before taking a job with the County of Marquette in the County Clerk’s office. She served as Deputy County Clerk until her retirement in 1986. In 1989, Snooky and Harold moved back to Pembine and lived there for 10 years before moving to an apartment in Kingsford.

Snooky was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Pembine where she was a member of Senior Choir and Altar Guild. She was also a member of the Pembine Senior Citizens, American Legion Auxiliary #461 and was a 1st Armored Division Associate Member.

She loved her family and spending time with them. She and Harold loved to travel and made many trips throughout the country visiting friends and family along the way. She loved to bake and her delicious treats were always eagerly anticipated. She especially enjoyed her visits to the Islands Casino with her dear friend and neighbor Marge Bantle.

Snooky is survived by a son Randy (Judy Gotz) of Rhinelander, WI and daughters Penny Streeter and Sherry Labbe of Marquette, MI; four grandchildren: Joseph Schlais of Atlanta, GA, Lisa Schlais of Lansing, MI, Kristy (Matt) Godbout of Berlin, NH and Jeremy Labbe of Marquette, MI; four step-granddaughters: Marie (Will) Voskuhl, Alice (Chris) Wendt and LeeAnna Streeter of Marquette , MI and Sarah (Chad Coughlin) of Ishpeming, MI; 11 great-grandchildren: Layla and Laney Godbout, Logan (Rosemarie) Streeter, Aaron (Makenze) LaJoie, Emily (Chris) Sebeck, Sydney Voskuhl, Austin Wendt, Hannah Rosten, Ryan Voskuhl, Timothy Wendt and Phoebe Hendrickson; one great great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harold, her brother and sisters: Everette (Carol) McTrusty, Florence (Glen) French, Laverne “Curly” (Wayne) Nettleton, Serle (Robert) White and Elsie (Walter) Dooley; and brothers- and sisters-in-law: Elmer (Phine) Schlais, Clarence (Eunice) Schlais, Raymond Schlais, Ethel (George) Bierstaker and Evelyn (Don) McCorkle and a son-in-law Timothy Streeter.

Visitation will be on Monday July 7, 2025, at Grace Lutheran Church in Pembine from 10am until the time of her Funeral Service at 11am. Pastor Gene Wickman is officiating. Burial will be in Pembine Cemetery.

Eva Muto

age 55, Amberg, passed away peacefully at home on Monday June 16, 2025, from a heart-fought battle with cancer. She was born in Racine on June 3, 1970; daughter of the late Tibor and Helen Ruska. Eva graduated from Case High School in Racine. She was a kindhearted and compassionate person who embraced life fully. Known for her caring, loving, loyal, and understanding nature, Eva also had a deep love for animals.

She was a hardworking and dedicated employee. Eva spent nearly 16 years as a print coordinator at CNH Case in Racine before relocating to Amberg with her husband, Chris. There, she discovered a new passion working as a caregiver at Northpointe Behavioral Healthcare Systems, a role she truly cherished.

Eva is survived by her husband, Christopher; brother, Tom (Ann) Ruska; niece, Morgan; nephew, Christopher; 5 cats; and 4 german shepherds.

Private services will be held with burial in the Amberg Cemetery.
