Our voice, our strength π§‘πͺ
This morning, the Fulton County Commissioners officially proclaimed March as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, reaffirming our communityβs commitment to inclusion, advocacy, and support for individuals of all abilities.
This year, the Fulton County Board of Developmental Disabilities is embracing the theme βOur Voice, Our Strength.β This theme highlights the power of self-advocacy, the importance of being heard, and the strength that comes from individuals sharing their stories and experiences.
To celebrate, the Board is proudly partnering with Triangular Processing, Saraβs Garden, and the Wauseon Public Library to plan activities throughout the month. Community initiatives include displaying orange ribbons across Fulton County, hosting a local business door decorating contest, and encouraging everyone to wear orange on March 12, 2026, as a visible show of support and awareness.
One especially meaningful collaboration this year is with the Wauseon Public Library. Throughout March, individuals with developmental disabilities are taking the lead during Story Time, sharing their favorite books and their voices with young readers in our community. Itβs a powerful example of what βOur Voice, Our Strengthβ truly represents.
Fulton County is a community where individuals are valued and included β in our schools, workplaces, neighborhoods, and beyond. Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month is an opportunity to celebrate empowerment, inclusion, and the voices that strengthen us all. We are grateful to the Fulton County Commissioners for their continued support and for proudly proclaiming March as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.
