Merry Christmas!

Today we celebrate the greatest gift ever given. A gift of hope, peace, love, and new life.

“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given.” — Isaiah 9:6

In the midst of the lights, the gatherings, and the joy of the season, may our hearts be gently drawn back to the manger. To the reminder that God came near. That He entered our world with humility and grace. That even in darkness, light was born.

From our family to yours, we pray your Christmas is filled with joy, comfort, and the quiet assurance of God’s presence today and always. ✨🎄

There will always be a last Christmas with the ones we love, even though we rarely know it at the time.

As we move into a season filled with family gatherings, traditions, and celebration, we also want to pause and acknowledge something that often goes unspoken. For many families, this Christmas is not wrapped in perfect holiday cheer. It is quieter. It carries absence. It holds memories that ache a little more this time of year.

At Grisier Funeral Homes, we recognize that truth deeply. This season, our own family understands it more than ever as we experience our first Christmas without Fred.

We are reminded of the promise found in Scripture:
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18

If this Christmas feels heavy for you, please know you are not alone. We see you, we honor your grief, and we hold space for both remembrance and hope as the season unfolds.

May the memories this Christmas season bring a smile as we remember those we have lost.

With care,
The Grisier Family

Looks like Northwest Ohio became a winter wonderland overnight! With schools closed and the snow piling up, we hope your day is filled with warm drinks, happy kids, and maybe a snowman or two.

Stay safe, stay warm, and enjoy the unexpected break.

It is with deep sadness — and yet with great hope — that I share the passing of my grandfather, Frederick “Fred” Grisier, the patriarch of the Grisier Family and former owner of Grisier Funeral Homes.

For more than six decades, my grandfather devoted his life to serving families with care, compassion, and integrity. He poured his heart into this calling — not just as a funeral director, but as a friend and neighbor to so many. His greatest joy came from the people and the communities he loved — especially his beloved hometown of Stryker.

Fred embodied the very spirit of service that our family has built its legacy upon. His steady presence, kind words, and quiet strength were a comfort to countless families through some of life’s hardest moments. He was a mentor to me and to many others, showing us that service is not just a profession, but a ministry of compassion, dignity, and love.

As a family, we find comfort in the words of 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14, which reminds us not to grieve as those without hope, for “we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him.”

While we mourn the loss of our grandfather, we rejoice in knowing his faith is now made sight, and his life’s work continues through each of us — his family, his friends, and the communities he so deeply cared for.

On behalf of the Grisier Family, I thank you — the families of Archbold, Wauseon, Stryker, and beyond — for loving my grandfather as your own. His impact will forever be felt in the lives he touched, the traditions he began, and the compassion he inspired in us all.

With gratitude and remembrance,

Adam Grisier

As many of you know, Todd and Sabrina officially retired from Grisier Funeral Homes this year. We are deeply grateful for their more than 40 years of faithful service to our families and communities. Though they have retired, we are blessed that they will continue to live in our community — and you may still see them around the funeral home lending a helping hand.

Because of their retirement, for the first time in over 100 years, the Archbold funeral home will be transitioning from a residence into a more serviceable funeral home space. We will be staying in the same historic building, but adapting it to better serve families while still honoring its history.

We kindly ask for your patience as we make these updates to our historic and beautiful building.

We are humbled and blessed to continue serving the Archbold area, walking alongside families with the same care and compassion that has defined Grisier Funeral Homes for generations.

🇺🇸 September 11, 2001 — We Remember 🇺🇸
Today, we pause to honor the lives lost, the heroes who rose in courage, and the resilience of our nation. May we never forget the strength that came from unity on that day, and may we continue to live with gratitude for the freedoms we share.

Our Story

The Grisier family started in the funeral business in Stryker, Ohio in 1896. William and his wife, Margaret were the first generation in the business and turned the business over to his son, Wendell P. Grisier in 1909. Wendell and his wife, Frances ran the business and in 1936 his son, William (Bill) and his wife Helen Grisier joined the family operated funeral service.

In 1944, the Grisier's purchased a funeral home in Archbold, Ohio. At that point the Grisier's operated the business' together until William and Helen's son, Fred, came back to help with the businesses in 1958. In 1981, Fred's son, Todd, joined the firm upon Bill's retirement. In 1988, Scott, also Fred's son, joined the business and in 1991 the Grisier's purchased the former Edgar Funeral Home in Wauseon, Ohio.

In 1996 the Grisier's consolidated the Wauseon operation into the Edgar-Grisier location. In the fall of 2002, the Grisier family purchased the former Miller Funeral Home in Delta. In 2019, Grisier Funeral Homes welcomed generation number six back into the business in Adam Grisier.

Today, Todd, along with director David Fox, Jr. and apprentice Adam Grisier, and with the assistance of Bill Chester, Don Krieger, and Rebekah Boysel operate the four funeral homes, working hard to serve their communities with honor, excellence, and humility.
