This week Chief Melvin and Deputy Chief Woodstock completed the Active Threat Integrated Response Course. It is a 16 hour performance level direct delivery course designed to improve integration between law enforcement, fire, tele-communicator and emergency medical services (EMS) in active attack / shooter events. Then we were joined by Emergency Manager Luchini along with 800 law enforcement, fire, EMS, dispatchers, mental health responders and school administration to hear best practices from first hand responders and families who have lived through these horrific events. We were moved to strengthen our local responses and continue to prepare.

As a satellite program of FVTC paramedic program we had the pleasure of assisting with several aspects of the Accreditation. Accreditation ensures that all Paramedic programs meet national standards.

Last night we responded to the car accident in Wild Rose and rendered care to the driver. We remained onscene to assist in the evacuation of residents to a warming shelter. We stand with all our responders to ensure thier safety should something goes awry.

Thor thank you for protecting us in EMS for all the pets and hanging close to our legs for attention. We will miss you in the field, in meetings, and sniffing the station. Brian we wish you luck on your next adventure and can’t wait to stand by your side on new adventures.

Today at 1700 hours K9 Thor retired. K9 Thor has faithfully served alongside his handler, Deputy Brian Wenzel, contributing to countless calls for service, community events, and public safety initiatives.

Their professionalism, dedication, and commitment to service have left a lasting impact on our agency and the citizens we serve.

We extend our sincere appreciation to K9 Thor for his years of exemplary service and to Deputy Wenzel for his continued dedication to the Waushara County Sheriff’s Office.

WHAT...For the Extreme Cold Warning, dangerously cold wind chills of 30 to 40 below expected. For the Extreme Cold Watch, dangerously cold wind chills as low as 35 below possible.

WHERE...Portions of central, east central, and northeast Wisconsin.

WHEN...For the Extreme Cold Warning, from midnight Thursday Night to 1 PM CST Friday. For the Extreme Cold Watch, from Friday afternoon through Saturday morning.

IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 40 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes. Keep pets indoors as much as possible

In honor of Law Enforcement Appreciation day we want to thank all our partners in Waushara a special thank you. Every day we see you go above and beyond to help in Medical Emergencies, Traumas and keeping us safe on chaotic scenes. We couldn't do our job without you and this group of Officers and Deputies make it a team.

Well the storm will soon transition to the more dangerous part. If you can avoid travel that is best. If you cannot use caution and take it slow. Crews are prepared in case help is needed.
