Independent Living residents enjoyed a wonderful presentation from Marquette Student in Residence, Janie, who shared photos and highlights from her recent trip to Lisbon, Portugal, where she attended a conference for her master’s program. Through beautiful pictures and fascinating cultural insights, Janie brought her travels to life — and even treated residents to pastries inspired by the traditional Portuguese delicacy, bola de berlim!

Today, in honor of World Day for Consecrated Life, we give thanks for the Priests and Religious Brothers and Sisters who live and serve on our campus. Their dedication to Christ and the Church is a living example of love and compassion, helping us carry out our mission each day.

We marked this special day with a Mass celebrating their vocations, followed by a light breakfast and refreshments. It was a wonderful opportunity to come together and honor the ways they share the light of Jesus Christ with everyone in our community.

The St. Camillus Resident Advisory Council (RAC) Mission Committee organized a group of 20 Independent Living residents to volunteer at Feeding America recently. The group boxed more than 5,000 pounds of food to help numerous families in Southeast Wisconsin.

They also brought back 13 pounds of plastic to support St. Camillus’ participation in the NexTrex recycling program, an initiative that encourages communities to recycle plastic film and bags. Through this program, collected plastic is transformed into durable, eco-friendly outdoor products and helps contribute toward earning our second NexTrex bench.

Through their time, care, and dedication, our residents are living our mission of compassionate care—supporting families in need and strengthening our community in lasting ways!

The St. Camillus Learning and Development team hosted a Virtual Dementia Tour, an immersive experience designed to help our employees better understand what daily life can feel like for individuals living with dementia.

During the tour, staff members were able to experience common challenges faced by our residents in Memory Care—such as sensory changes, confusion, and difficulty completing everyday tasks. This powerful perspective helps build empathy, patience, and deeper connection.

By stepping into the world of those we serve, our team is better equipped to respond with compassion, dignity, and individualized care.

St. Camillus is proud to partner with Marquette University through our Students in Residence program. As we observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2026, we reflect on Dr. King’s enduring message: "Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'"

These words closely align with the St. Camillus philosophy: “The poor and the sick are the heart of God. By serving them we serve Jesus the Christ.” At St. Camillus, our service is not just a business obligation, it is a commitment to our mission.

In 2026, we remain dedicated to ensuring our services are accessible, equitable, and designed to empower every individual we serve. We believe that by serving with compassion, integrity, and excellence, we contribute to the progress and inclusion that Dr. King, as well as St. Camillus, championed.

Today, we encourage our team and partners to treat this as a “day on,” an opportunity to serve the community. Seek out service opportunities throughout the day to show love and compassion to all individuals.

Thank you for your continued trust and partnership as we strive to serve you better every day.

Sincerely,

Michael Libby
CEO
