Due to the federal government shutdown, November SNAP benefits will not be issued.

You will still be able to use any remaining balance on your EBT card after November 1. You can check your EBT balance by calling the number on the back of your card, 800-359-5802, logging into your ConnectEBT account online, or using the ConnectEBT Mobile app. Iowa HHS will continue to process eligibility for the SNAP program at this time. If approved, SNAP cards will be mailed, but no benefits will be loaded onto the card if the shutdown is still in effect. Please visit hhs.iowa.gov/SNAP for updates.

After more than 15 years of dedicated service, we’re celebrating the well-earned retirement of Cindy! Throughout the years, she has made an incredible impact providing supports to individuals with disabilities through our employment services at the thrift store.

Cindy’s kindness, patience, and commitment to helping others grow have touched so many lives—staff, clients, and customers alike. We are so grateful for all the years of hard work, laughter, and heart she brought to our mission. 💜

Please refer to the information below regarding food assistance resources. We encourage you to share this message with others who may have concerns about meeting their families' nutritional needs until SNAP benefits are reinstated.

We are truly grateful to the Waverly-Shell Rock Area United Way and the community for their support of inclusive employment in our community! We are stronger when we include workers of all abilities!

Your donations allow the Waverly-Shell Rock Area United Way to invest in the work of local agency programs. In 2024, we supported 19 programs through agency allocations.
These programs accomplish work in our community that we cannot do alone.

One example of this work is the Employment Support Services program provided through The Larrabee Center, Inc.
