Do dentists and endodontists both perform root canals?

Dentists are trained to perform simple root canals and may do so when possible. Typically dentists perform about 2 root canals a week. When the treatment is more intensive or complicated, they will refer you to an endodontist, who performs an average of 25 root canals a week and specializes in doing so.
