Starting hospice care earlier can give patients and families more time for symptom management, emotional support and improved quality of life. While most patients only experience its benefits for days or weeks, hospice is available when a physician certifies a life expectancy of six months or less. Timing makes a meaningful difference.

When a caregiver in the early stages of her IVF pregnancy learned that an expensive, critical medication was suddenly no longer covered by insurance, she turned to Mary Sarrazin, Sr. Benefits Specialist, for help. Mary sprang into action, escalating the issue and advocating until the medication was approved.

One of our patients want to recognize one of our caregivers! Mrs. Martel said that she was weary about a man coming to her home. However, Chris Pinkerton PTA made her feel safe and at ease. She said he was a real "gentleman." Mrs. Martel said she hasn't touched the ground in 2 years and Chris helped her to achieve that. She said he was patient with her and helped her down her ramp. He allowed her to lean on him so that she could take her shoe off and feel the ground. Sometimes its the small things that we take for granted. We are thankful for you Chris for shining bright and making Mrs. Martel feel safe and comfortable. We also want to say thank you to Mrs. Martel for letting us know about her Amedisys experience.
