We’re back with another WHY Wednesday, and today features our wonderful phlebotomist and lab technician, Brittany Sanders! 💖💉✨ Here is Brittany’s “Why” for her field of work and working in Pediatrics.
I always knew I wanted to be in the medical field, but I didn’t know Pediatrics would be my dream career. In college, I started in surgical technology but ended up changing to phlebotomy. Over the years, I worked as a phlebotomist in the hospital & in a family practice until the opportunity presented to work in Peds.
Working in a pediatric office is one of the most fun and rewarding jobs you can have. I love the environment where we can be absolutely silly, sing, dance, & joke with the kids. But most of all, I love showing them that not everything is scary at the doctor. Getting your blood drawn can be quite nerve wracking, especially for kids, and my goal is to help make these tiny patients feel comfortable and safe. I make sure to explain each step them, let them know what is happening in the moment, and tell them it’s okay to be a little scared. I always applaud them for being brave and let them ask any questions. I treat them with the same compassion and understanding as I would my own children. I strive to be someone they can trust and not be afraid of, and to be there to help ease the minds of the parents. I thank the Lord for placing me here to help provide the best care for our tiny patients.
Brittany is pictured with her husband and two children, whose own experiences in the doctor’s office shape her interactions with patients each day. Thank you, Brittany, for your constant positivity, joy, patience, and enthusiasm that set the tone for SEGP! 🫶🏼🌟
