It's Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day. I know lots of people on social "act" like they are nutrition experts, but us RDN's actually:
🤓got college/advanced degrees in nutrition
🤓completed 1200 hours of a dietetic internship
🤓passed a national credentialing exam
🤓are dedicated to life-long learning with 75 hours of continuing education every 5 years
🤓Plus, we are held to a high standard of practice with a professional code of ethics

So RDN's actually are THE food & nutrition experts. Check the credentials of who you take advice from! It matters. Mic drop 🎤💥

Latest CEU credits earned. Diet for the MIND. Great info to share!

What I learned- Alzheimer’s is the leading type of dementia, affecting 5M Americans. There are a number of different types of dementia- primary ones are Alzheimer’s, vascular dementia and Lewy body.

Takeaways - the importance of folate, B12. Getting omega 3 from food such as salmon and walnuts. There’s no evidence Fish oil pills provide the same benefits.

Many ugly & unkind accusations & a lot of ignorant misinformation about SNAP & individuals who are recipients are floating around online. Regardless of your political position let's not forget who may be affected if SNAP benefits are cut off.
FACTS.
-39% of SNAP recipients are children
-20% are elderly
-10% are non-elderly with a disability
-8% are military veterans
-1% are active duty military
--73% had a gross monthly income at or below 100% of the poverty level.
-Many SNAP recipients do have earned income but work in service positions with unstable hours/pay.
-Many SNAP recipients care for children or elderly parents so cannot work full-time.
