We celebrated our Installation Dinner honoring the 2025 officers and incoming 2026 officers of the Wayne Township Memorial First Aid Squad. It was a special night recognizing the dedication of our volunteers, as Mayor Vergano proudly presented service certificates ranging from 5 years to an incredible 50 years ( John Redfearn) of commitment. The highest award The Kay Bolan award was given to Todd Kryzmowski.

Our dedicated volunteers from the Wayne First Aid Squad were proud to be part of our town’s Christmas Tree Lighting. We’re honored to not only save lives, but also to give our time to the community we love—supporting local events and being there whenever our neighbors need us. The Wayne Township Memorial First Aid Squad has been here for 83 years because this community believes in giving. Our volunteers respond at every hour because they are inspired by giving. The equipment, training, and resources that keep us ready for emergencies are only possible through giving.

As we look ahead, we continue to rely on contributions that help us maintain our ambulances, advance our training programs, and ensure that lifesaving care remains available to everyone in Wayne.

Several times a year our squad gives extrication classes, because who doesn't love a good game of rescue. We are required to train every year, because practice makes perfect. Several hours in classroom and several hours outside doing hands on, because book smart is not the same as street smart.

🚨 Joint Training Drill in Wayne 🚨
This week, members of the Wayne First Aid Squad participated in a multi-agency training exercise alongside Wayne Police, Wayne Fire, and St. Joseph’s Hospital staff.

The scenario simulated a fire and explosion within the hospital’s hyperbaric chamber, requiring coordinated efforts in scene safety, patient triage, and large-scale evacuation procedures. This hands-on training provided an invaluable opportunity for all agencies to work together in a realistic, high-stress environment, enhancing our ability to respond efficiently and safely should such an incident ever occur.

Multi-agency drills like this are crucial for strengthening communication, coordination, and preparedness across all responding departments. We’re grateful to our partners for their teamwork and commitment to community safety.
