Arbor Day is the last friday in April. We feel so lucky to be nestled among the beautiful "Tree Streets" ! 🌳

We are also just steps away from the greenery of Ridgeview Park. Whether it’s providing shade for a walk or a home for local birds, our trees make Waynesboro a wonderful place to live.

Community coming together to serve!
There’s a slower, softer rhythm happening in our community every Wednesday.

Today I had the privilege of spending time at The Gathering Place, surrounded by people who simply show up with open hearts.

No rush. No pressure. Just presence.

For those living with dementia, it’s a place of gentle connection, meaningful moments, and care. And for their caregivers, it’s a few quiet hours to breathe… to rest… to just be.

What touched me most was the community behind it. Volunteers from different organizations, familiar faces, new friendships—all coming together with one shared purpose: to love and support well.

This is the kind of rhythm I want more of.
The kind that reminds us we’re not meant to do life alone.

If you or someone you know could use a space like this, The Gathering Place is truly something special.

And to those who show up every week… thank you for being part of the heartbeat of this community.

Yesterday was National Gardening Day, and did you know Summit Square is home to a beautiful garden right here on campus?

Tucked just beyond the everyday rhythm of the community, the garden offers a quiet place to dig in, slow down, and watch something grow. It is where hands meet soil, conversations unfold naturally, and each season brings something new to tend to and enjoy.

For many residents, it is more than just a garden. It is a return to something familiar, a small ritual, a reminder that growth never really stops.

Today is National Reach As High As You Can Day, and at Summit Square, we like to think we’re already in the business of summiting.

Around here, reaching higher takes on new meaning in retirement. It might be the resident who finally signs up for the art class she always talks herself out of, only to discover she has a steady hand and a real eye for color. Or the neighbor who swears he is done with fitness, now making his way around the community paths each morning, a little farther every day. Sometimes it is quieter than that, choosing to sit at a new table at dinner, to start a conversation, to say yes when it would be easier not to.

These are the kinds of summits we see every day. Not dramatic, not loud, but meaningful all the same.

So today, we’re celebrating the big climbs and the small ones. Because at Summit Square, the view is pretty great and somehow, we are always finding new ways to rise.

There’s something powerful about being able to share this chapter of life side by side, surrounded by comfort, connection, and a true sense of belonging. We’re so grateful to have Kathy and Jill with us, and we love being a place where family can stay close and continue making memories together.
