Jimmy Lewis Tatum was born February 24, 1944 at Dr. Boyce’s Clinic in Hohenwald, TN to the union of the late Woodroe Pete and Emmy Gladden Tatum. He was united in marriage to the former Glenda Kay Doyle on August 22, 1961. These two were blessed with five children Woodroe Jay, Jimmy Glen, Jonathan Lewis, Larenda Irene, and Jennifer Margaret . He loved spending time outside and loved to spend time hunting, fishing, and gardening. Mr. Tatum departed this life on Monday, March 23, 2026 in Selmer, TN making his stay in this life some 82 years and 27 days.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Glenda Kay Doyle Tatum; three sons, Woodroe Jay Tatum; Jimmy Glen Tatum all of Flatwoods, TN; Jonathan Lewis Tatum and wife Holly of Savannah, TN; one brother, Bud Tatum of Ohio; he is also survived by four grandchildren, Kathryn Alizabeth Tatum; R***r Levi Tatum; Jeremy Glen Tatum; and Joshua Tatum

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Larenda Irene Tatum; Jennifer Margaret Tatum; one grandson, Matthew Tatum; two sisters, Kate Tatum Garner; Carmen Tatum Aiken; two brothers, Ronnie Wayne Tatum and Russ Tatum.

Visitation with the Tatum family will be on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM and again on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 from 11:00 AM until service time at 1:00 PM

Funeral services will begin on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Bates-Love Funeral and Cremation Chapel with Bobby Carroll officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the North Highland Cemetery.
