Our Mission is to provide quality health care that meets or exceeds the expectations of our customers.

Our History

In 1951, Wayne General Hospital opened its doors as a 30–bed institution to care for the citizens of Wayne County. Demands for hospital services increased and in 1962, additional beds and an expanded ancillary services area were added. In 1977, a new facility was completed at the present location. This facility is an 80-bed general acute care hospital offering laboratory services, radiology, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, surgery, an intensive–care unit, swing-bed, obstetrics, home health, hospice, wellness center, ambulance services, and emergency room services. Wayne General Hospital offers two Primary Care Clinics, a Walk-In (sick clinic) and The Wayne County School Clinic. Today the hospital — with modern equipment, expanded services, and specialized personnel — has the ability to provide more medical services to the people of this area. Wayne General Hospital will continue to provide the medical care needs for today and tomorrow.

We are so thankful to have partnered with the Wayne County Justice Court for their 5th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon. 💗

Last Friday was such a special and heartfelt event honoring the brave individuals in our community who have survived breast cancer, as well as those currently undergoing treatment.

It was an honor for our CEO, Andrew Porter, and Cynthia Odom, CNM, to serve as keynote speakers at the event. Andrew reminded everyone that at Wayne General, we’re here for our patients on both the good days and the hard days. Cynthia shared a heartfelt message celebrating these strong women as the heart of the movement — a reminder of the strength, courage, and hope that inspire us all.

We’re so grateful to have celebrated these incredible ladies together! 💕

Thursday night was the BEST! 🎃

We’re filled with gratitude and can’t thank everyone enough for coming out and making it such a special evening. We loved seeing our community come together and enjoy a night full of fun, laughter, and creativity!

This event was truly a team effort — and we are beyond thankful for our incredible departments and local organizations who made it all possible. Your hard work, creativity, and enthusiasm shined through in every detail — from the themed tables and treats to the costumes and smiles. We couldn’t have done it without you! 🧡

A huge thank you to our Maintenance Team for everything you did behind the scenes — preparing the space, roping off areas, handling last-minute details, and staying late to clean up. Your efforts may not always be seen, but they’re deeply appreciated and make all the difference.

A special thank you also to the Kiwanis Club of Waynesboro, MS., Inc. for your partnership, dedication, and support throughout the event — we’re so grateful for all you do!

Big shoutout to Eatin’ at Aj’s and 2 Brews & A Blondie for serving up the best food and drinks — you truly helped make the night even more special!

All proceeds from this event go to the Wayne General Hospital Foundation, benefiting hospital initiatives that make a difference right here in our community.

We’re proud to introduce our October Spotlight Employee — Ashley Cooley!

Ashley is from Buckatunna, MS, and earned her Associate Degree in Nursing (RN) from Jones College. She has been a valued part of the Wayne General team for 14 years — starting in Med Surg, then transitioning to Surgery, and now serving in our Surgery Clinic.

In her role, Ashley manages a lot — and does it all with grace. She sees patients, handles phone calls, coordinates schedules, and ensures everything in the Surgery Clinic runs smoothly. From scheduling patients’ surgeries and appointments to answering questions and easing nerves, Ashley provides exceptional, genuine care that truly reflects her calling. She also manages referrals and assists Dr. Bilal, keeping appointments on track — often knowing what he needs before he even asks.

Ashley says her favorite part of her job is that it “feels like home,” surrounded by staff and patients who have truly become her community.

In highlighting our “Spotlight Employees,” our goal is to honor these members of our team who tirelessly work behind the scenes. They ensure Wayne General Hospital operates smoothly and that every detail is attended to. We greatly appreciate Ashley’s hard work and dedication to Wayne General Hospital!

Last but certainly not least, it’s Quality Week!

As much as she might like this week to slip by with zero recognition, that’s not going to happen. Mrs. Amy wears many hats as our Chief Operating and Nursing Officer, Vice President of Quality, Marketing, and Patient Experience, and member of the DNV Healthcare Advisory Board — and she does it all with unmatched dedication and care.

As Chief Quality Officer, she ensures our hospital delivers safe, high-quality care, continuously improves patient outcomes, and stays compliant with healthcare standards. She takes every concern into account, looks for ways to improve our facility, and oversees multiple departments to guide teams in maintaining excellence in care and operations.

From managing ventilators and providing critical care to educating patients and supporting recovery, our respiratory therapists play a vital role in helping patients breathe easier — literally.
