🥶🛻🚕🚗TREACHEROUS Driving Conditions in the Forecast Tonight🥶🛻🚕🚗

Across a large part of the Commonwealth, temperatures will drop tonight after daytime melting of snow, ice, and sleet, causing refrozen snow and black ice in spots. Hazard levels rise near bridges and overpasses as well as daytime shaded areas. If you are in any of the affected areas, stay off the roadways. A little common sense goes a long way.

For your safety and the safety of first responders, DO NOT TRAVEL. Staying off the roads helps prevent crashes and allows emergency crews to respond to critical emergencies.

Many Virginians Still Without Wireless Service Following Verizon Outage

Many Virginians who use Verizon as their wireless carrier lost service around noon today and, as of this evening, have not had service restored.

Verizon has confirmed the issue is part of a nationwide outage. In an update issued at approximately 9:00 p.m., the company released the following statement:

“Today, we let many of our customers down and for that, we are truly sorry. They expect more from us.

We are working non-stop and making progress. Our teams will continue to work through the night until service is restored for all impacted customers.

We will make this right — for any customer affected, we will provide account credits and share updates soon.”

In Virginia, multiple local jurisdictions issued emergency alerts acknowledging the outage. Officials warned residents that the Verizon outage has been impacting customers across the United States and may result in service disruptions, including difficulty placing calls to 9-1-1 systems.

Officials advised community members experiencing an emergency who are unable to place a call from their cell phone to: Use a device from another carrier, if available, use a landline, if available, use Wi-Fi calling, if supported by their device and network

At this time, Verizon has not provided a reason for the outage nor an estimated time for full service restoration. The situation remains ongoing.

🎉 Auxiliary Celebrating 70 Years of Dedication! 🚑💙

Recently on Saturday, October 25th, the Waynesboro First Aid Crew “Auxiliary” celebrated an incredible milestone - their 70th Anniversary! Auxiliary members (active and inactive) and former members joined together to celebrate seven (7) decades of selfless service, unwavering commitment, and countless acts of compassion that have touched the lives of so many across the Waynesboro community.

Keeping our students safe is a shared responsibility for everyone on the roadway. Please remember to stop for stopped school buses 🚌 with flashing red lights and an extended stop sign 🛑 when approaching from any direction.

Waynesboro, VA — National School Bus Safety Week is October 20-24, 2025. The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is urging drivers to slow down and be aware of school buses in their communities. Although school buses are one of the safest modes of transportation, injuries and fatalities do occur outside of or near the buses. Most often, these tragedies occur because a motorist has failed to slow down and obey the bus’s stop sign, or to follow local traffic laws. Nationally, school bus passing is illegal, and it is a deadly risk to bus riders and their caregivers. Drivers should always come to a complete stop when a school bus stop-arm is extended and the red lights are flashing.
