This is one of the more vulnerable posts I’ve written about Flora, but I feel called to share.
Seven years ago, I was working quietly in the back of our flower shop, Flora Decora, in downtown Weatherford. Six years ago, covid shut us down. That same year, Flora Massage + Wellness studio was born after returning to a small studio space.
Five years ago, I took a major leap of faith.
What started as a single treatment room grew into the space we operate in today. It has easily been one of the most rewarding and also one of the most challenging; many chapters of my life...
The truth is, Flora was never created with the goal of building a big business or chasing income. It was simply born from a genuine love for helping others— a space where someone could walk in feeling overwhelmed, hurting, or exhausted and leave feeling relieved + grounded in themselves.
Everything Flora has become grew from that intention and from the trust our amazing clients and community has placed in us over the years.
Today, Flora continues to bloom.
Our schedules stay full, waitlists are growing, and more people are reaching out for care than we realistically physically have space to serve— this is a huge blessing and honor that is not taken lightly. At the same time, growing and sustaining a small business— especially in today’s economy comes with very real responsibilities behind the scenes.
Ensuring that Flora can continue serving this community in a healthy and sustainable way is something I take very seriously to heart— and, truthfully, right now, Flora is at a fork in the road. Just as around this time FIVE years ago, only this time, on a larger scale with the realities + nature of business I never dreamed would evolve in this way.
If you have been to Flora, you know we are home to a sweet little space tucked in a neighborhood. We absolutely adore it here. However, we know growing pains and all that come with it are very real— what once held plenty of space for us, has now become challenging in some moments; and that is where we sit at a fork in the road...
We can remain where we are, knowing it limits how much we are able to grow and how many people we can serve. We could eventually pass Flora into new hands and allow someone else to carry it forward. Or we could take another leap of faith and move into a larger space, creating more room for healing and expanding access to care for our community. Moments like this are part of the natural evolution of small, community- rooted businesses. The next chapter of Flora will be shaped not just by me, but by the people who have supported + believed in this space over the years.
Another possibility I have been thoughtfully exploring is whether bringing on the right kind of partner or investor could support Flora’s next stage of growth. Building something like this largely on my own has been deeply meaningful, but expansion at this level often benefits from shared vision and support. If the right person aligned with what Flora represents and where it could go for this community, that’s something I would be open to exploring....
I truly believe that doors open in divine timing of the greatest good and that sometimes the next chapter of something meaningful is built through shared stewardship rather than doing it alone.
But, before making a decision of that magnitude, I wanted to come directly to the people who helped build this space. Your heart + voice matter here.
So, what would you love to see for the future of Flora? Would a larger wellness space be something you feel our community would support? Flora has always been something built with this community, not just for it. If Flora has ever been a place where you found relief, rest, or support, I’d truly love to hear your thoughts...
With so much love + gratitude,
