Fatigue is one of the most common and challenging symptoms of multiple sclerosis (MS), affecting about 80% of patients. Unlike regular tiredness, MS fatigue doesn’t improve with rest. It can hit suddenly and become overwhelming, making even simple tasks feel impossible.

The primary cause is damage to the nervous system, but secondary factors like poor sleep, pain, stress, and medication can worsen it. Symptoms may include brain fog, muscle weakness, and a feeling of exhaustion that worsens as the day progresses.

To help manage MS fatigue, try energy conservation strategies:
• Plan and prioritize tasks.
• Pace yourself to avoid over-exertion.
• Use assistive devices or position things nearby to minimize energy use.
• Allow yourself to rest and take breaks.
• Focus on nutrition, hydration, and sleep hygiene.

Theresa, from Weatherford, Texas, came to ClearSky Weatherford for medical rehabilitation following an acute hospital stay.

During her seven-day stay, she committed herself to physical and occupational therapy, working closely with our therapy team to regain strength, confidence, and independence.

With determination and focus, Theresa achieved her goal of returning home safely. At discharge, she proudly walked through our "Flying High” clap-out line, surrounded by staff who celebrated the incredible progress she made.

A traumatic brain injury (TBI) can occur from a blow or jolt to the head and impact how the brain functions. Common causes include falls, auto accidents, and sports injuries. If you’re caring for someone with a TBI, the best way to help is by being actively involved in their recovery. Here are some caregiving tips:

• Help the individual stay organized with lists and planners.
• Encourage focusing on one task at a time.
• Be mindful of fatigue and plan activities early in the day.
• Keep a regular routine for eating, sleeping, and exercise.
• Attend healthcare visits and take notes.
• Encourage avoidance of alcohol and drugs as they worsen symptoms.
• Let the person do as much as they can for themselves to promote independence.

Meet Layla, Director of Pharmacy

Layla has been part of the ClearSky Weatherford family for over a year, and we are so lucky to have her on our team.

Her path to healthcare started early. Growing up, she remembers admiring her aunt, a pharmacy technician, and the relationship pharmacy staff had with their community.

One of her favorite moments at ClearSky Weatherford was during one of our Friday cookouts. She says, “I realized then that ClearSky wants its employees to feel like they are part of a family, and that is very special.”

When she’s not at work, Layla enjoys cooking and baking for her friends and family.

ClearSky Weatherford held Operation: Mission Impossible

With team members from all departments coming together, we were tasked with securing Agent Hunt (our very brave dummy) using only items found around the hospital. From creative uses of lanyards, gait belts, and therapy bands to teamwork-driven transport strategies, every group brought innovation, collaboration, and plenty of laughter to the challenge.

The ultimate goal? Safely es**rt Agent Hunt to the finish line, and we did it with teamwork, communication, and a whole lot of fun.

This activity wasn’t just about creativity; it was about strengthening collaboration and reminding us that when we work together, no mission is impossible.

A huge thank you to Sarah, Therapy Team Lead, and Jennifer, Human Resources Manager, for putting this activity together and making this mission a success!
