🌿 WEEK 2 of Reclaiming Your Body — From Body Myths to Body Wisdom
Theme: Relearning How to Trust the Body
📖 Reading:
• Chapter 2: The Five Body Myths — Blind Alleys That Throw Us Off Course
• Chapter 3: The Hallmarks of Optimum Health — Finding the Path Home
This week we explore the beliefs that have shaped our relationship with the body—and begin to imagine a different way forward.
In Chapter 2, Suzanne Scurlock-Durana describes the common myths many of us have learned about the body: that it is painful, dangerous, seductive, out of control, or less intelligent than the mind. These beliefs often lead us to disconnect from the very place where our wisdom lives.
In Chapter 3, we begin to rediscover what it means to feel at home in the body. Optimum health is not simply the absence of illness, but a state of balance, awareness, and trust between the body, mind, and spirit.
Healing begins when we stop fighting the body…
and start listening to it.
✨ Affirmation
“My body carries wisdom. I am learning to listen, trust, and come home to myself.”
💬 Discussion Prompts
• Which of the five body myths do you recognize most in your own life?
• Where do you think those beliefs came from?
• What does “optimum health” mean to you beyond physical symptoms?
• When have you experienced a moment of truly feeling at home in your body?
• What small practices help you reconnect with your body’s wisdom?
🌿 Reflection Practice — Coming Home to the Body
Once a day this week, pause for a simple body check-in.
Place one hand on your heart and one on your belly.
Take three slow breaths.
Ask yourself gently:
“What does my body need right now?”
Notice whatever arises without judgment.
The path back to the body begins with simple moments of awareness.
⭐️ The Women's Spiritual Growth Book Club meets monthly every second Monday at Wholistic Body Solutions in Weatherford. We gather from 6:00-7:30 PM to discuss the reading, reflect on the themes, and share insights as we grow together in awareness, healing, and connection.
