Skincare is a trend, for sure. But tweens using expensive products, retinol even (?!?) is just out of control. We are trying our best to keep our girls’ routines to a cleanser and moisturizer with spf. As much as I hate fragrances and other chems, we’re picking our battles and allowing lip gloss, scented sprays and body lotions. (But I’m working on the girls to see if we can make an essential oil roller ball perfume together!)

The girls have actually listened to news reports in the past, and I caught this clip yesterday. I think the Today Show made it simple and colorful, quick, etc., and they even brought on a beautiful, blonde, Insta-worthy dermatologist to back things up! If this can help you reign in the Bum Bum cream purchases happening in your house too, here ya go:

Tweens, they want it all: Face masks, serums, creams.

New on the Handing Down Health Blog:
boylesnaturals.com/blog

Are you BRCA-positive and learning your options for breast reconstruction? Curious about timelines, surgical specialties or what to look for as you make appointments? I’ve navigated these big questions over the past six months. Here’s my experience.

This post is a summary of what I’ve learned on this topic and my one very bizarre conversations with a young surgeon. The Handing Down Health Blog is an evidence-based and hopefully *slightly* entertaining look at the public health issues of our day.

If we don’t know there are questions to ask, how can we ask them? Many people are unaware that a family history of cancer could be due to a genetic abnormality in DNA, and that they may be eligible for a free saliva test. As always, start by asking your P*P or gynecologist about whether you’re eligible.

Take a read of our most recent blog post at boylesnaturals.com/blog which covers all the details about this opportunity for so many families. Link in bio.

More moments like these is why preventing disease and injury is important. I recently learned I am BRCA2 positive, and am staring down two major risk-reducing surgeries, one of which is next week. I’ve shared all the details on my blog….(link in bio and below.)

Knowledge is power, but that fact doesn’t make it any less scary. But, in the interest of telling more people about the HBOC syndrome and the existence of free testing to find out earlier in your life, I’m sharing all of it. More to come….
