We’ve been getting into the Thanksgiving spirit at the clinic with one of our favorite fine-motor activities — handprint turkeys and dot-marker art! 🦃🎨

This simple craft is a great way for kids to practice:

- Fine motor skills
- Grasp strength (using dot markers!)
- Finger isolation
- Following directions
- Creativity + self-expression

The best part? It’s an easy activity you can recreate at home with paper, markers, or paint.

Just trace your child’s hand, add some colorful “feathers,” and let them decorate their turkey in their own unique way!

We love seeing the kids so engaged and proud of their creations, and the artwork brightens our whole clinic. 💛

November is National Family Caregivers Month, a reminder to slow down and recognize the people who show up every day, often quietly, often tired, but always with love.

Being a caregiver isn’t easy. It’s juggling doctor’s appointments, late nights, and endless to-do lists while still trying to hold onto pieces of yourself. It’s feeling grateful and exhausted at the same time.

If that’s you, take a breath. You’re doing more than enough. ❤️

Gentle Reminders for Caregivers:

- Ask for help when you need it.
- Rest when you can.
- Take care of your health, too.
- And remember, it’s okay to not have it all together.

To all the caregivers out there: we see you, we appreciate you, and we thank you. 🌷

Ever feel like your child’s assessment results are written in another language?

You’re not alone, and we’re here to translate.

Our Decoding Assessments Workshop will help you understand what those reports really mean and how to use them to support your child at home, in school, and in everyday life.

Here’s what we’ll talk about:

- How to ask the right questions during evaluations
- What to know when medication is part of the discussion
- How to collaborate with your child’s school for success
- When it might be time to schedule a new assessment

You’ll walk away feeling confident, informed, and ready to advocate for your child’s needs.

Date: Tuesday, 11/17/25

This month, we’re recognizing two important observances that align with our mission at Creative Development:

Assistive Technology Awareness Month

Assistive technology (AT) includes the tools and devices that help children communicate, move, and learn more independently — from communication tablets and adaptive seating to sensory supports. These tools play an essential role in therapy by fostering inclusion and helping every child reach their full potential.

National Family Caregivers Month

Behind every child’s progress is a caregiver providing encouragement, advocacy, and love. This month, we honor all the parents, guardians, and family members who show up every day. Your dedication makes growth possible, and we’re grateful to walk alongside you.

Together, these observances remind us how technology, teamwork, and compassion work hand in hand to empower the children and families we serve.

Building skills through teamwork and play!

Our latest session brought together both occupational therapy and speech therapy to support growth across multiple areas.

Speech therapy focused on communication development and AAC (augmentative and alternative communication) use.

Occupational therapy targeted visual perceptual skills, crossing midline, and fine motor coordination.

When we collaborate across disciplines, every activity becomes an opportunity to build confidence, communication, and independence — all through meaningful, play-based learning.

“What does this assessment actually mean for my child?”

If you’ve ever asked yourself that question, you’re not alone.

Our upcoming Decoding Assessments Workshop is designed for parents and caregivers who want to better understand their child’s evaluations and feel confident in next steps.

Here’s what we’ll unpack together:

- The difference between psychological and psychiatric assessments
- What to ask when medication is part of the conversation
- How to explain testing to your child before the appointment
- What to do with test results and how to turn them into action
- How to work with your child’s school to get the right support
- And how to know when it’s time for an assessment in the first place

You’ll leave with clarity, confidence, and a plan for what comes next.

Halloween can be exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming for some kids. 👻

Here are a few simple ways to help make it a more enjoyable night for everyone:

1) Use visuals: Try a picture schedule or short story to show what will happen.

2) Practice ahead: Walk through trick-or-treating, like knocking, saying “thank you,” or wearing a costume.

3) Know your child’s comfort level: Keep plans short, bring comfort items, and use a signal for breaks.

4) Celebrate every moment: Whether your child visits one house or ten, their joy matters most.

A little planning helps make Halloween fun, flexible, and full of smiles for every family. 🎃
