Heaven has a whole lot of glitter now. Paula “Poe” Fitchhorn passed, with husband of 33 years, Larry “Fitch” Fitchhorn, by her side on Saturday, December 6th. The visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, December 14, 2025 at Foster Funeral & Cremation Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 15, 2025 at Faith United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery.

Paula Lynn Adams, 76, daughter of Damon “Jay” Adams and Loretta (Warehime) Adams, was born on May 7, 1949 in Fort Dodge. She loved being on the farm, helping her dad. She and her sister especially loved their red mustang they drove to school as teenagers. She graduated from Webster City High School in 1967. She enjoyed planning reunions, building floats, and corresponding with her classmates via cards and handwritten letters.

On September 12, 1993, in her custom-made polka dot dress, she married Fitch, her daughters, Sarah Kopriva and Marta Paukert, happily standing by her side. Sarah and Marta were two of her proudest accomplishments, raising the girls to be strong, independent, and hardworking women just like her. Together, Paula and Fitch, made the Webster St house a home, with a backyard garden, a red kitchen, and an open door welcoming anyone who wanted to stop by. You could find them on any dance floor dancing to “My Girl,” Fitch usually in his pink dress shirt she put him in.

She worked for many years as a fabulous florist. She started her career at the Flower Cart, before opening and managing Main St. Florist and later owned Paula’s Flower Shop for 12 years. Her floral creations made happy days happier and sad days easier. After closing Paula's Flower company, Miss Paula joined the staff at Sunset Heights elementary school, as a paraeducator. She quickly accepted her role as the corner duty lady, where she would meet and greet students for over 14 years. Miss Paula was easily recognized in her long white coat, mittens and red glasses. She would always get students excited for the school year with welcome back to school notes, some years sending out over 100.

Paula’s most favorite role was being a grandma to five girls. She loved spending time with the girls, baking, and making flower arrangements together in the kitchen. You could find a bowl of cookie dough waiting for them in the fridge, just in case. And she was always there for a quick hug, so they knew she loved them.

She is survived by her husband, Fitch; daughters Sarah Kopriva of Webster City, Marta (Steve) Paukert of Duncombe; grandchildren, Harper Jayne Kopriva, Delaney Rae Kopriva, Emersen Dannyelle Paukert, Brenna (Austin) Strawhacker, Sarah Paukert; great-granddaughter, Elise Strawhacker; sister, Linda Olmstead of Jewell; nephew, Cooper (Codi) Olmstead of Jewell; great-nephews, Case and Crayton Olmstead and brother-in-law, Sammy Fitchhorn of Eagle Grove.

Paula was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Joe Kopriva and brother-in-law, Dan Olmstead.

Paula, lovingly known as Poe, Aunt Poe, and Gramma Poe was full of life bringing joy and laughter to those around her. Sparkles, big earrings, and red lipstick were her signature look, along with a bold laugh and a diet coke. She was the warmth and life of every party and cared so deeply about her friends and family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the family’s discretion.
