If you get dizzy or a round of vertigo, your goal is to:
✔️ Stabilize blood flow so the brain is well-oxygenated.
✔️Calm the vestibular system by reducing rapid head movement and supporting a neutral, steady position.
✔️ Soothe the nervous system so the “threat response” doesn’t amplify the dizziness.
Here are some Supportive Positions (and Why They Work)
❤️ Side-lying with head slightly propped: Keeps the inner ear from feeling like it’s “falling back,” and avoids blood pooling in the head/neck.
❤️ Knees bent (supine or side-lying): Prevents blood from pulling in the legs, supports circulation back to the heart and brain.
❤️ Cool compress on forehead or eyes: Calms the nervous system and reduces sensory overwhelm.
❤️ Small sip of water: Addresses mild dehydration, which can worsen dizziness.
❤️ Eyes open, soft gaze: Looking at one fixed point helps recalibrate the inner ear and brain’s orientation.
