We are searching for a Medical Assistant -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will provide patient care and excellent customer service in a healthcare setting. You will also assist in the coordination of flow and provider schedules to effectively manage patient care.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Verifying patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, and confirming purpose of visit.
• Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and EKG; and reporting patient history summary.
• Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; and keeping patient information confidential.
• Counsels patients by transmitting physician’s orders and questions.
• Schedules procedures by making arrangements with the hospital; verifying times with patients; and preparing charts and pre-admission and consent forms.
• Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
• Responsible for stocking exam rooms, taking inventory, and ordering supplies
• Uses resources efficiently; does not waste supplies. Self-motivated to independently manage time effectively and prioritize daily tasks, minimizing incidental overtime. Role models effective time management and ability to work as a team.
• Develops skills of team members and continually assists with improving skills, performance and outcomes.
• Collaborates with all members of the interprofessional health care team by actively communicating and reporting pertinent patient care information and data in a comprehensive manner. Teaches peers to critically think by verbally expressing rationale for decisions and follows up consistently. Facilitates open, professional, communication to achieve mutual understanding, role modeling by example.

Medical Assistant Qualifications/Skills:
• Knowledge of EMR* (eClinical Works preferred but not required)
• Must have previous cardiovascular experience.
• Minimum of one year of experience preferred.
• Will consider internal medicine experience.
Minimum Qualifications Education:
• High school diploma or GED required; and
• Graduation from a Medical Assistant program or equivalent.
