It is Maternal Mental Health week!
Each pregnancy can with its highs and lows of emotions. From unplanned teen, planning then loosing, and postpartum depression my lows brought me down to the lowest times in my life. Now having a wonderful supportive husband and having the blessing of staying home with my 4 beautiful children, my highs are thankfully more frequent than not.
What does your maternal mental health look like?
**Note** Our campaign illustrations are based on the ACTUAL journeys of three REAL moms. Britt, Keyla and Laura are moms that bravely volunteered to share their stories with us. We thank them for being vulnerable and sharing their truth. We are honored and touched they were willing to share such powerful moments with us.

While pregnancy is an exciting time for many women, not every woman enjoys pregnancy. For many women, it can be a scary, uncertain time with filled with unknowns, anxieties, doubts and fears. The unrealistic expectation that a pregnant woman is always excited sets her up to feel guilt and shame. Next time you see a pregnant woman, don’t assume that she is elated. Rather, ask her how she is feeling and how you can support her.
Remember, maternal mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, and OCD **CAN** happen during pregnancy. You never know what a mom-to-be is hiding behind her mask of fake smiles. If you or a mom you know is struggling, ask her how she is REALLY feeling and let her know there is help available. Provide Postpartum Support International’s Warmline: 1-800-944-4773.
Share this post if you want others to know that pregnancy isn’t always easy and MMH disorders are real
