As the rainy days grow shorter and darker, Iโ€™m reminded to make an extra effort to connect with friends and savor the little things. Here in Denmark, they call it โ€œhygge,โ€ that warm, cozy feeling that comes from simple moments like sharing good food and good company with people you love. Itโ€™s a kind of social vitamin for getting through the long Scandinavian winter!

You can even use the word as an adjective: hyggeligt. For example, if you met up with friends at a bar and wanted to describe that cozy, fun night the next day, you could say, โ€œDet var hyggeligt!โ€ (It was so cozy!) which sounds a bit like โ€œday var hoo-guh-lee.โ€

What brings you that feeling of "Hyggeligt"? โ˜• ๐Ÿงถ ๐Ÿงฃ

Mindfulness doesn't mean you have to sit down and meditate to calm the mind. In fact, sitting down and feeling all the feels can be overloading for a lot of people, including me.

For me lately, I find mindfulness through playful activities like drawing, building with lego, scribbling with crayons, or simply walking with my super playful dog Odie.

What activities help you to feel grounded?

I hope you enjoy this new cartoon of Ooty and Zed! You can get early access to new art over at patreon.com/mollyhahnstudio

๐Ÿ˜ Image Accessibility Description

A lighthearted, watercolor-style cartoon features two characters: a small, monk character in an orange robe and hood (Zed) and a large, friendly blue elephant (Ooty)

The monk is holding a white spray bottle with a heart on it, labeled "love," and is spraying a mirror that hangs on the wall behind them. The mirror is framed in wood and is splattered with cloudy marks.

The elephant is helping to clean the mirror; its trunk is holding a red, heart-shaped sponge to help clean the glass.

The reflection in the partially cleaned mirror shows a clear patch with a contented emoji like face.

Below the illustration, the text reads: "Mindfulness helps us clear the mirror of the mind." The bottom right corner has a logo with the text "Ooty and Zed by Molly Hahn."
