One of our wonderful volunteers, Trisha, recently stopped by to photograph items for our Mother's Day Raffle (thank you, thank you, thank you!) and brought along a very special guest—her new puppy, Blue!

Blue, a lovable mastiff and lab mix, quickly made himself at home. During his visit, he shared his irresistible charm (and plenty of puppy love) with one of our residents, K. Before long, Blue had snuggled right in and drifted off into a peaceful nap—bringing comfort, warmth, and many smiles along the way.

We were recently reminded of the incredible power of community and connection.

Our resident K., who once shared her talents as part of an African drum and dance group called Bush Mango, recently received a beautiful surprise. When former members of the group (including one of our very own volunteers, Deb) learned she was at Webster Comfort Care Home, they came to visit.

They performed not only for her, but also for our staff and volunteers, filling the space with energy, joy, and heartfelt emotion. It was a moving tribute and a meaningful moment that touched everyone present.

We are so grateful for acts of kindness like this that honor our residents’ lives, passions, and stories.

One of our dedicated volunteers, Sam, is a college student preparing for a future in the medical field. After each shift, he takes time to reflect on his experiences—and his insights remind us why compassionate end-of-life care matters so much.

“There were two very kind residents on this shift. It's amazing to me how, even with what these people are going through, the majority of them are able to keep in positive spirits. Even if they feel bad, they portray an image of happiness. While it's human nature to want to appear strong, I think this attitude is reflected by those at the Home. Many of the nurses and volunteers are genuine people who are there because they choose to be. This makes a difference in the often-overlooked psychological side of healthcare. This is a takeaway that I will carry with me as I begin to branch out more in my own career in healthcare.”

We’re so grateful for compassionate volunteers like Sam, and for the residents and staff who create such a meaningful environment every day.
