If people easily upset or annoy you, the problem isn't "people," the problem is your short fuse.

There has been so much talk about Mindfulness over the past few years, with schools teaching it as part of their curriculum, and sports teams even embracing it as part of their training. People think the world would be a better place if everyone just learned to be mindful, but that misses the entire point of the teachings!

As I wrote in The Opposite of Namaste, "Mindfulness doesn't make other people less irritating, it makes us less irritable! The goal of spiritual practice isn't to create a bubble where nobody pushes your buttons, it's to achieve a mental and emotional state where you don't have any buttons that can be pushed."

So, if people easily upset or annoy you, the problem isn't "people" it's your short fuse. Luckily, we can work on that!
