Our inaugaral trail run is now June 27th. This is an event designed for trail runners and autism families alike. We'll start with a 1k walk/jog/run suitable for all fitness and abilities. Then a 5k trail race will follow. Registration opens soon!

These are the five things I wish people knew about autism.

1. A meltdown is not a tantrum. It's usually just the result of sensory or emotional overload.

2. Eye contact doesn't measure connection. Many autistic people show love and attention in many different ways.

3. You probably won't realize how far they've come based on how they're acting and behaving in public.

4. Having routine isn't stubbornness. It helps make a confusing world more predictable.

5. People with autism aren't broken. They just have a disability.

Changes and transitions with schedules for people with autism can be rough! Happy to report that returning back to school was as chill for Mitchell as he was on Christmas break!

I hope all the autism parents out there had a similar experience with their child's transition back to school this past week.
