Enjoying the outdoors? 🌞 Be sure you are sun-safe to prevent painful burns and long-term skin damage!
Here’s how:
👕 Cover up – Wear lightweight, long-sleeved clothing, a wide-brimmed hat and UV-blocking sunglasses for extra protection.
🧴 Apply sunscreen – Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30, even on cloudy days. Apply at least one ounce (a shot glass full) to all exposed skin 15 minutes before going outside and reapply every two hours — or immediately after swimming or sweating.
🌳 Seek shade – Avoid peak sun hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. when UV rays are strongest.
💧 Stay hydrated – Drink plenty of water to keep your skin and body healthy in the heat.
🚨 When to see a doctor 🚨
If you experience severe burns with blisters — along with fever chills, confusion or dehydration — seek medical attention. Prolonged sun exposure can lead to heat exhaustion or heatstroke, which require immediate care!
