Heritage Family Farm

Heritage Family Farm Heritage FF is a Veteran ran farm dedicated to regenerative, sustainable, compassionate agriculture. Who is Heritage? Why Heritage?

On our regenerative family farm, you’ll find Tyler and Katie with their two children, as well as a grandparent or two depending on the day. Tyler is a 10-year Navy Veteran who is currently serving his 5th year with the Navy reserves. Katie is a native Texan that comes from a banking and small business background. She now spends her days on the farm homeschooling with the kiddos. As a whole, we live our lives committed to sustainability and compassion for animals. We avoid single use products and buying things new whenever possible. From cars to clothes we utilize the secondhand market. By giving everything we use a second life, we leave little to no footprint as a consumer. Even the egg cartons we use are thrifted or gifted, and we of course encourage all customers to reuse them as well. Any waste we generate is either recyclable, reusable, or compostable and has thereby eliminated even our need for commercial trash services. All of our animals live out their lives as part of the farmily. Feathered to furry receive love, respect, and medical care as needed. (Yes, we take chickens to the vet.) Every species of feet deserves to feel the earth beneath it. All of our feathered friends have access to the full 20 acres to forage and play as they please. At dusk all of our birds make their way into the coop where they sleep safe and sound until the break of dawn when they come out to do it all again. To maintain the highest level of sanitation, we clean out the chicken coop every day. You read that right, every single day. A sanitary coop is a healthy coop, and their wellbeing is our highest priority. Our chickens are family first and breakfast layers second. What does regenerative mean anyway? Everything on the farm contributes to our eco system. The pasture pets have eliminated the need for gas powered mowing equipment, all the while producing completely organic manure to enrich our pastures and compost. In the gardens, we thoughtfully utilize companion planting. Meaning we closely plant beneficial flowers, herbs and vegetable together attracting natural pest control and effectively eliminating the need for pesticides. Diligently hand picking any other visitors to the garden provides a great treat for our feathered friends! We purposefully avoid tilling to allow the microorganisms to grow and thrive undisturbed. Any food scraps are composted and added to the cycle of organic, compassionate farming year after year.
