A hands-on project that helps kids identify emotions, practice gratitude, and build self-expression.

Materials
Construction paper (brown for body, assorted colors for feathers)
Scissors (safety scissors for younger children)
Glue stick or tape
Markers or crayons
Optional: googly eyes, stickers, feathers, glitter, etc.
π¦ How It Works
Create the Turkey Body
Cut out a circle for the body and a smaller circle for the head.
Glue or tape together.
Make the Feathers
Cut out 6β10 feather shapes in different colors.
On each feather, the child writes or draws something:
Β½ can be βthings I'm thankful forβ (family, pets, food, etc.)
Β½ can be βfeelings Iβve had this weekβ (happy, nervous, mad, excited, etc.)
Discuss While Crafting
Ask open-ended questions:
βHow did you feel when ___ happened?β
βWhatβs something that makes you feel safe or happy?β
βWho is someone youβre thankful for and why?β
Assemble the Turkey
Glue the feathers around the back of the body in a fan shape.
Add eyes, beak, feet, etc.
Optional: write βI am thankful forβ¦β across the bottom.
