✨ It’s time to understand that something so small can make such a BIG difference. ✨
Kinesiology tape and phototherapy patches may look simple—but their impact on your horse or dog can be powerful.

The semitendinosus is part of the hamstring group, running along the back of the hind limb.
What does it do ?

✨️ Extends the hip
✨️ Helps flex the stifle & hock
✨️ Drives forward propulsion

When this muscle is tight or restricted, you may see:
▫️Shortened stride behind
▫️Difficulty engaging the hind end
▫️ Reduced push and power

Photobiomodulation therapy as well as some basic stretching, chiropractic care and massage can help !

This video - taken 15 minutes apart
🐶 suffering with spinal cord compression secondary to intervertebral disc disease (IVDD).
The brain does not signal the the correct paw positioning. ⬆️ turn up the volume to physically listen to the nails scuffing on the floor due to this issue.
15 minutes of 🧲 𝕋 ℙ𝔼𝕄𝔽 🧲 , second video was taken. Decreased time of scuffing due to faster repositioning of the paw.
Even a small little session can help out significantly and make them more comfortable.
Check it out ! Like most pet owners i will do anything to make her more comfortable 💙

TUESDAY TIDBITS: EQUINE DENTAL HEALTH 🦷

Equine dental health is not only crucial for keeping your equine companion's pearly whites healthy but also for the overall health of the animal in general.

Common dental issues such as the ones mentioned in the graphic can negatively affect the health of the teeth themselves as well as gum, gastrointestinal, and overall mouth health. Dental issues can also impact chewing and food grinding, further exacerbating digestive tract issues.

Has your horse struggled with any of these dental issues before? Let us know below ⬇️

As always, if you have questions or concerns about your horse's dental health, contact your equine veterinarian.

Adequate forage in our specific area is tough- I rely on a small amount of a ration balancer & supplements to pick up the slack & aid in adding the correct vitamins and minerals into my horses diet 🐎
Great information- this article is worded perfectly

If you believe that horses need grain in their diet to meet their nutritional needs, you are not alone. However, horses should get most of their nutrients from a good quality forage source such as grass, hay, hay pellets, or a complete feed.

Horses generally eat between 1.5-2% of their body weight each day, so an average size 1,000 lbs horse should eat 15- 20 lbs of hay daily. To help fill any nutrient gaps such as essential vitamins or minerals, a ration balancer may be beneficial. Depending on breed, body condition, and exercise level, concentrates may be added in to provide additional energy but are often not needed.

When deciding on what to feed your horse, it is best to invest in high quality forages as the foundation of your feeding plan. You can even have your hay tested to see exactly what nutrients it is providing.

Please consult with your veterinarian or an equine nutritionist about your horse's diet before making any major changes, and remember that any changes should be made gradually over time to avoid GI upset.

Thank you to the AAEP Horse Owner Education Committee for providing this information.
